London council found guilty over the deaths at Grenfell Tower blocks & about time too.
The way that Tory idiot Theresa May went on was so sick, people burned to death or died from inhaling the smoke from burning plastic at the very least is a criminal act against the poor IMHO.
fucking good. nobody deserves to die like that and the aftermath and total failure to house survivors properly was just gross.

i remember seeing this:

and thinking 'so glad we have safety regulations, that would never happen here.' well more fool me, nobody fucking died in the grozny tower fire.

2 years ago a friend & me went to the local fireworks display just before the 5th November, we both had taken 70mg of 4-HO-MET.

The fire was one thing to deal with but the fireworks was like being in Vietnam, as it was held on a huge country estate the trees looked like a mix between Lord of The Rings with some Apocalypse Now vibe, if someone had put on The End by The Doors my brain would have melted.

The worst part was on the way back, we got on the free night bus back. All the fireworks scared the sheep whi had broke out, me and foxy said we would get rid of the sheep so the bus could move.

We're tripping our ass off chasing sheep around, it was one of the best trips ever.

Those lines, and the way they are delivered, along with the musical accompniment, give me tingles every time. Honestly just reading the written lines and thinking about it gave me tingles just now.

I've been slowly working through a bit more of his back catalogue. I've not yet found anything I like more than Nothin and Big Country Blues. It may be that those 2 tracks will remain his stand out tracks for me, but on the strength of those tracks alone his other stuff deserves several listens. It may well be that some of his other stuff is more slow growing and a bit harder to get into immediatey. (At least for me and the way it affects me) The best stuff that rewards for longest is often that way, as I'm sure you know.

This has got me thinking about Richard Thompson, I'm not sure if you know of him. HIghly acclaimed guitarist and songwriter of Fairport Convention. He is very British compared to TVZ (it comes across in the style some how)

He has one single stand out solo track that is an absolute blinder, and I've searched high and low but nothing else compares. I saw him live last year and the whole crowd reacted the same way, so it's not just me.

I don't think this will be the case with TVZ though.

Never heard this guy before, thanks for the tip.

Oh man I'm such a huge TVZ fan, want me to link you his best set ever?

Townes was the best when he was live with just his guitar.

Stand out tracks for me are ......

Nothin, Marie, Dollar Bill Blues, Big Country Blues, The Hole, Kathleen, Rake.

@Bleaney

The best TVZ album ever, it was a limited edition vinyl run of 500 copies. The version of Dollar Bill Blues on here will make your jaw hit the floor. When you know that's one guy and one guitar it's even more mind blowing, he could play like something sent from God himself.

My favourite cover of this Appalachian classic, anyone to do a better job than Clarence Ashley is quite a task but Townes really shows how you flat pick a guitar.

@Jerry Atrick
You heard this version?

I'm not sure if you'll like Richard Thomson, I guess the similarity with TVZ is that he is a brilliant acoustic guitarist and he also writes lyrics about outlaws (as here in 1952 Vincent Black Lightning) which is usually great material for folk songs.

Thanks for the links and other TVZ tracks to check out. I'll be sure to follow up on them.

Just a 125cc scooter, don't use my big bikes when getting trashed
I can Respect that.
Tripping balls riding on 125cc isn't that bad, I was expecting you to be on some GSXR if I'm honest.

One of the best films ever called "God Speed you black emperor" about the Japanese biker gangs in the 1960's. The film is mad as they would fight eachother while riding along, nobody wants to be chain whipped at 80mph
#sadface

The game for the Sega called Road Rash was based the film.

@JTemperance do you really rate carisoprodol? Would you rate it more recreational than the z-drugs?
I think I marginally prefer zopiclone but there's not much in it. Yeah zopiclone is the one with the fucked up taste.
Not a fan of the taste?

Was it you who tried snorting them a few days ago? The taste in my experience takes on a whole new level when you do it that way, a cup of coffee tastes truly appalling.

Sorry for butting in on a message to someone else, but I've found that it does combine very nicely with DHC. More so than Zopiclone which just kind of killed the DHC buzz for me.

On it's own Soma has been very hit and miss for me, I've caught a really nice buzz maybe 2 times out of 10. With the other 8 times just konking out, sometimes so rapidly that I'd spill w/e I was drinking or eating at the time.

So that's clearly not a great success rate, but getting the dose right is obviously very important and I've found through trial and error that 750 mg seems to be about perfect.

The barbiturate thing is quite interesting. I suspect I'd have loved them. Do you remember the RC Etaqualone? Like most people at the time, I was concerned and put off by the warnings about overdosing on it if you took too high of an oral dose, as the line between taking enough to get high and a fatal O/D was said to be extremely thin. Like virtually no line at all. (The vendor must have been concerned about his customers dropping dead as the warnings on the web site pulled no punches. It was clearly serious and dangerous stuff.)

It was said to be much safer sublingually (as you didnt need to take anywhere near as much) but people were complaining of mouth ulcers after dosing that way. I had a small amount that I'd purchased pre-ban but had been scared to take, and finally got round to trying it sublingually and it was bloody amazing. And I had no mouth ulcers afterwards either! I regret not getting more in pre-ban, especially as it was being sold so ridiculously cheaply it was a virtual give away. On the other hand it may be a blessing in disguise that I didn't end up getting heavily into that stuff.

Bitd a group of flew out to Spain to spend a fortnight at a rather nice villa...we also had 200 reds (Seconal) my only memory of the whole trip is floating on a giant inflatable in the pool, no idea where we went out, what we ate ...how we got to the airport etc.

Learned something new about myself recently.

If I eat dinner and go on the piss immediately, I have a load of gas and bloat next day, even that night

So, I found that earlier is better

Eating dinner three hours before first drink I am fucking sorted

Sack the food off and have a Guinness. Sorted
Been on a weight gain kick lately, went 87 to 74kg between Nov 19 and May 2021 because lack of physical workouts and going from 4k carbs per day to 1500 carbs, not including beer, after leaving my physically strenuous work at that time

Working my way back to ideal 85kg that has been prime weight since I was 17. So feeding is important, although a Guinness is nice too

Currently 81kg
