Went out this afternoon for some veg - came home with one of those foot massage things. He spotted it and had to go and investigate,I knew instantly it was a bad move.

Wish I hadn't just realised how easy it is to do the microwave mug chocolate cake thing. Arg/nom.

Im sure some of these reporters are having it on.. got brew coming out my nose.

A corrupt detective who stole massive amounts of seized drugs and conspired to sell them back on to the streets has been jailed for 23 years.Nicholas McFadden 38, of Church Avenue, Leeds, stole thousands of pounds of class A drugs from evidence stores, Leeds Crown Court heard.

His brother, Simon McFadden, 41, of Darfield Place, Harehills, was jailed for 16 years for conspiring to supply.

Officers said Nicholas McFadden "was a criminal purporting to be an officer".

McFadden stole enormous amounts of seized drugs and conspired to sell them back on to the streets with his brother, making them at least £600,000, the court heard.

He helped himself to more than £1m of heroin, cocaine and cannabis by exploiting "slack" procedures while working at secret evidence stores.

The brothers lived a champagne lifestyle, taking exotic holidays, designer clothing, expensive jewellery, artwork, home improvements and private number plates for their cars, jurors in the five-week trial heard.

Simon McFadden also indulged his love of expensive sausages, which he and his wife washed down with large amounts of champagne.

I see one brother knew how to live more than the other, premium sausage mmmm

Fortunately I don't have all the ingredients to hand right now. HR innit :!

That does look considerably tastier than I was expecting though. It really is just cake mix inna mug. But microwaved. Which should be all kindsa wrong. Will investigate at earliest opportunity...

Mendo: Saw that story a while back. Less detail though. The detail makes it =D

Have yet to form a firm opinion of the validity of microwave sponges, Bear. Instinct sez nay. But have been surprised at microwave cuisine before... probably. Spade bought me a book of microwave recipes for one once. Still got it. Unopened True story.

Spade <3

(where is the wee scamp?!?)

Pee Ess: Obviously not gonna be comparing it to sachertorte or owt. It's a cake inna mug. Microwaved. But ready in minutes so...

I agree Bearlove. They taste too eggy.

Exactly - I've made a few of them and they always taste the same 'Eggy' - My task for lunch tomorrow, apple upside down cake. Will have all the basics in but an easy to follow recipe will not go a miss.

I've never made a microwave cake.

I did make a sachertorte once, for my (now) mother-in-laws 50th birthday. It was fucking dreadful. Was brought out with great fanfare by the restaurant we'd all had a meal at, but my God, it really was a bad cake, texture, taste, everything...

Just looked up sachertorte recipes and they're fuck all like the one I remember drooling over but never getting around to attempting during my baking years. One I recall had fuckloads of thin layers rather than two (admittedly quite tasty-looking) fat ones.

Also, on the microcake stuffs, "eggy" does not sound good. At all. Chicken periods. Ick :|

Am a-hankering after making non-specific crumble though. Bought some custard powder that's quite tasty recently but got nowt to cut it with.

Ive done a couple but they always taste - raw. Tried with the usual jam, chocolate, cooked fruit etc but cant get it right. I would love to try and cook an olive sponge cake!

Why are they so hard to do? It was 10 years ago I made it, not done it since it was so bad. But I remember knowing at the time it was meant to be hard to make, and following a recipe very very precisely.....I remember using marmalade...and I remember TWO layers....

Methink you and Bear may be talking different cakes on the "raw" tasting stuffs...

Sachertorte recipe I recall had a gazillion layers. Each one needing cooking seperately and layered with apricot stuff (I think). Was a really weird recipe which is why it stands out in my mind. Never seen a cake recipe like it. Insanely complex. Well, repetetive at least.

In other cake news, I'd bet a ball you'd cum if you ever got to sample me Jamaican Rum, Coconut 'n' Lime Cake, MM. Right up your alley. Irie =D

(was the coconut centre that made it - tastes like Bounty bar filling... only wrapped in lushy dark, molasses, rum and lime cake instead of cheap chocolate <3)

yeah apricot rings a bell now.

and think you're right about me misunderstanding Bearlove. I wondered when he'd said about putting cooked fruit in.

Sachertorte....Definitely seperate cooking, or twice cooking or something of the layers, and definitely a fucking pain in the arse to make. Took me most of a day iirc.

And apricot conserve rings a bell, unless i did use marmalade instead of the apricot conserve.... Can't have done, it was such a fucking big deal me making this cake to impress the mother-in-law, I would have got the right ingredients? Or maybe 10 years ago I'd have just thought "fuck it, marmalade'll do"

Where is she anyway?

And yeah, i love Bounty bars, as Marmalade does too,and your pirate cake sounds like a fucking carcrash, but i think I'd fucking love it.

No carcrash, MM. Proper recipe. From a book. Wiv pix in and everything. Same one the sachertorte recipe came from, as it happens. Gingerbready-type cake soaked in lime/rum syrup with the Bounty-stuff filling baked in the middle. Was a revelation to me. Dessicated coconut + sugar + egg white = Bounty filling.

Also, would be great to see Mz Marmz appear sometime soonish <3

Pee Ess: Sachertorte recipe said prep + cooking time = best part of a day from memory so sounds about right to me. Always too much faff but seemed somehow very exotic to my teenage overnight drugged-up bakefiend mind...
