GHB Question

Hi all you fellow Bluelighters. =)

I have some Pure NaGHB Powder. I have used GHB plenty of times in the past, but not for quite awhile now. Now I also just got clean from Benzo's and Opiates about 4.5 months ago.

Anyways I am wondering that If I dose GHB maybe once or twice is it going to totally fuck my GABA receptors right back up to square one, and totally screw my recovery process? Or am I being a bit too paranoid here?

Sorry if this sounds retarded, but its not worth it if its going to put me back to square #1.

Now I'm not talking about daily use here, just maybe once or twice.

Thanks BL. %)

totally fuck your receptors as in downregulate them to no return? very very unlikey after one or two uses. i'm not even sure what kind of abuse it would take to "fuck you gaba receptors". i don't even understand what you're saying, to be honest, sorry.

Well I just went through pretty brutal withdrawal from benzo's (like holy fuck). So I'm basically just wondering if I dose GHB couple times or something, is it going to down regulate my GABA receptors like back to when I first stopped taking benzo's (basically like am I going to have to go through full blown withdrawal all over again?)

GHB and benzos work on different GABA receptors, I believe. Many folks don't even find any cross-tolerance let alone "fuck you gaba receptors" territory. Benzos also don't help that much with G withdrawals for (I presume based on no chemistry knowledge) similar reasons - not quite the same receptor and that can make a big difference. Repeated cycles of G addiction will often result in users reporting increasingly severe w/d every time they go through them but use - or lack thererof - of benzos doesn't seem to make much difference to anything either way, to be honest.

I don't think it would directly affect your benzo recovery but it is still a GABA-bashing drug albeit a slightly different GABA receptor involved so caution would be wise. I would expect that if you've had prior problems with benzos GHB could very easily become a "replacement" very quickly. It really does creep up on you and you can be using 24/7 quicker than you'd believe. G w/d is on a par with benzo or alcohol w/d too so worth bearing in mind. Occasional use should be okay but if you have had previous issues with GABAergics then it could become a problem even easier than if you haven't, I would suspect.

^^ -- I believe GHB acts on the GABA-B Receptor. Benzo's & Alcohol act on GABA-A so you are correct.

Now, I am still having a problem. Haven't done any GHB or anything. I am not sure if this is a withdrawal symptom I am having still or a hormone problem, but I did have a bit of it before I started my heavy benzo use if I am not mistaken. Anyway, its like super skin sensitivity, and certain parts of my body are REALLY HOT, and I also sweat like crazy underneath my arms. VERY Uncomfortable. I wish I could get to the bottom of this.. because I can't live with this shit forever.

Anyone?
