GHB?? - More than a date rape drug?

I'm curious... I'm doing research on this drug, and I only know it as the infamous "date rape drug"

its apparently supposed to make you dizzy and lethargic, then you throw up and can't remember anything, it lasts between six and ten hours.

anyone know more about it? taken it? Have any extra info on it... let me know, it'd be a great add to the paper to have actual knowledge of what this shit is.

First of all, there is this thing called the search engine...you type in a word you want to know more about, you click the little button, and you get information. Truly amazing! And you can search a forum AND its archive!

Your description of GHB sounds like 'roofies' (rohypnol), a benzodiazepine that is chemically and recreationally distinct from G.

GHB lasts 45 min to an hour. It provides euphoria, giddiness, can affect motor control, and yes, it can make you feel a bit tired. It's easy to take too much, and if you do, you can pass out , which could necessitate a trip to the ER. But, at lower doses, GHB is a very fun drug, similar in effects to alcohol, but without the calories and the hangover. Some people find it upsets their stomach, but in general it isn't nearly as bad as alcohol in this respect.
 
GHB is so much fun!! it lasts between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on the strength. looks like water but is kinda thick. the properties are crazy to it. when it freezes it turns crystalline, and when you try to heat it up it does the same. GHB, the best i can describe gives you a drunk feeling but with more of a "rolling" feel to it. my favorite combo is GHB and mushrooms.
 
there is no such thing as a date rape drug. that term is a pile of media induced bullshit. ghb can make you sleep. so can alcohol, so can nyquil.

Ghb, Gbl, etc are commonly used recreationally. Its reputation as a "date rape is mainly due to its dangerous effects, when mixed with alcohol. Ghb is also easy to overdue. increasing doses by small amounts can make you much higher and you might experience loss of consciousness, another big reason it has the reputation it does.
 
You would have to be fairly stupid to drink it unwittingly. It tastes salty as hell.
 
Or fairly drunk... it is not hard to slip into a drink.. a fairly small dose can be quite strong. Good pure GHB is quite potent for its size and weight. It is a bit nasty tasting but not bitter or as bad as slipping a girl some Nyquil...

Other drugs that a rapists might try to use like benzodiazapines don't mix well with water, and take longer for onset. Ketamine might be an option. Since GHB and ethanol work on the same receptors it is a match made in hell. A little G in a victims 6th or 7th tequila sunrise at the party would be one of the best possible drugs a person could obtain, and use easily to sedate them enough to have non-consensual sex.

There was certainly media hype and scare tactics being used around the “date rape” drug term….. but then again, how many people used LSD to rape a person? The point they missed was that *ethanol* was the first, will be the last, and most widely used date rape drug of all time. But no one wants to hear that…..

Anyone who doses another person unwittingly with any drug should be hung by their ball sack and pissed on.

Word! It drives me nuts when I sit in those Criminal justice classes and I hear the teacher speak of date rape drugs and bring up GHB/GBL.

It is my drug of choice, I love GBL :). I think its a mixture of drinking 8 beers and doing a big line of K... The best thing about it though is that you are able to drive your ass home about an hour after you ingest it (giving you dont pass out of course).
 
Yea you'll fucking say ghb cant be used as a date rape drug til' it fucking happens to you. Now I am all about not blaming drugs, blah blah blah, obtaining knowledge of outside influences on the human body is my hobby. I have no pity for people who overdose. Yet on this issue I am horribly mixed up... I dont know like i said don't talk shit until it happens to you. Whomever said people who dose other people unknowingly should be strung up by there balls, (or ovaries whatever) is damn right.
 
GHB is in every cell of every mammal on the planet. Its in meat at the supermarket. Its analogues are used in synthetic clothing, cosmetics and a variety of other commercial applications. It is a natural chemical indigenous to the human body.

Strange that its illegal in these circumstances, seems to me the word of the law shud be hard to enforce if ur local supermarket is technically a dealer.

Bullshit. The sleeping dose for pure GHB is 5 to 6 grams. I know. I've been prescribed GHB for 7+ years. 5 grams of GHB is more than enough to fill a match box.

Frankly paracetamol makes a better date rape drug than GHB.

Yeah maybe in powder that's a lot, but if you put 5mL of GHB or 3mL's of GBL in a girls drink they will pass out. and that is not that much... imagine a 2 liter soda bottle cap.. that's 4mL
 
^^^ u can do the same with _any_ downer when some1s drinking booze, and itll knock em out like barbs for example. GHB is in no way special here. Itll also puts there life at risk. Mixing downers with booze slows the heart, slows the breath and causes vomiting. It also has a strong distinctive taste (so it can only be used on strong flavoured/salty drinks)

For the above reasons ghb is actually pretty unpopular as a date rape drug. Far more popular is alcohol alone, followed by rohypnol (which is tastless and less risky than G). Things like K and GHB are rarely used this way because ur increasing u chance of getting caught and potential penalties.

Rubbish. As you'd know if you had ever tried to dissolve powder into water. There is no fucking way you could get 5 grams into 5ml of water.

Either you know absolutely fuck all or you are a moron or you are talking about GBL, which is a completely different drug.

I not sure you can put quite that much in 5ml but it is close GHB will disolve in very little water.

As for 5g being a dose, I wouldnt suggest taking more than 2g your first time, 3g will heavily sedate me and I do it virtualy every day.

I'd say GBL is much more dangerous than GHB, the doseage curve is even steeper, trust me, you dont want to OD on GBL. I had to try and explain what it was to an A&E nurse while still nearly constantly passing out. I was stupid, but I only took about 1.5-2 times my usual dose.

Im talking about the actual liquid G form you idiot, I'm not talking about dissolving G from powder into someones drink. I think I have a pretty good background of this drug considering I used to do it 24/7 for over 6 months... I have read up on it. GBL is not that different from GHB considering it changes into GHB once inside the body.

If you order GHB or GBL it usually comes in liquid form, I have only seen it in powder form once. When in liquid form it is not that hard to put 5mL of GHB or 3mL of GBL into a measuring device and injecting it into someones drink while they aren't looking, this is what people do and this is why people fucked this up for everyone else, I always used this drug for recreation and the cops thought my boys were raping girls because they found an empty bottle of it.. damn pigs.

Obviously you know nothing about nothing.
 
^^^ as i said earlier, u can do the same with benzos, and most date rapers dont use these downer/alcohol combinations because of its high risk of fatality, increaing both the potential penalty and the chance of getting caught. It also tastes strongly. Theres another drug which is tasteless and not frequently fatal, which makes u forget without even passing out. u prolly know what this is, and its far more common in date rape cases.
