Misc GHB - How often is too often?

Hey guys,

So I have a question about GHB.

I have been using it for about two weeks. Mostly once a day for a few hours with occassional breaks of a day in between. I would take about 6 grams over these few hours, then stop and continue with my day (I use it in place of alcohol, so while my mates are drinking, I have some GHB).

I am also hearing horrible things about addiction and withdrawal, and really want to avoid this.

So far, I have heard that you will become addicted once you go to 24/7 use, which I am not doing, and I am not experiencing withdrawal symptoms when I stop taking it or have a day off.

I am still new at this, so I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on my current usage? Does it sound okay? I don't want to abuse it. I FEEL fine, and that the amount and frequency I am taking it is okay, but what do you think?

Thank you in advance.

If you are using it nearly every day it is obviously too much. Even if you are not redosing 24/7.
Maybe that way you won't develop a severe physically addiction (for now) but the chance that your consuming frequence will increase is high and then it gets much worse. So why risk that?

Try to limit yourself, like only on the weekend or even better ~twice a month. And definitely do not drink on top of it if the idea should cross your mind.

From what I've read, the withdrawal is mostly the dopamine rebound built up over a long time. Your brain can't handle that much dopamine and will freak out (potentially killing you). If you let that excess dopamine go away after each session, there shouldn't be much problems (EDIT: previous theory is false, my bad) However, it's pretty tempting to use more often, like DickTate said. Especially since GHB isn't toxic and doesn't give a hangover (like alcohol), the chances of becoming psychologically addicted is certainly there.
Also watch your sodium intake, as you're probably using the Na-GHB salt. 6g of Na-GHB contains roughly 1g of pure sodium. The daily recommended intake for sodium is 1.5 to 2.3g, with an upper limit of 3.5g (in healthy adults, source) and as you probably know most modern foods are loaded with salt and chances are you're already getting plenty (or too much) sodium without the GHB. That's the main reason I switched from GHB to GBL. The other is being too lazy to do the conversion ;)

And of course, as with any drug, using daily is going to increase your tolerance pretty quickly. Even if you take a day off every now and then. It's also said to completely lose the euphoria over time, leaving you with only the sedative effect, but luckily I'm not at that point myself (yet?). And indeed never, never drink alcohol (or use any other downer) in combination with GHB, it has killed people and got many others hospitalized.

It's the GABA-B agonist part of GHB that is concerning, not the "dopamine rebound". Similar to other anticonvulsant GABAergics, withdrawal will lead to seizures and general misery, because GABA is one of the main inhibitory neurotransmitters. Even drugs like phenibut and baclofen will produce dependence and withdrawal in the same manner.

Anyway, more than once a day is probably too much. Like alcohol, some people can get away with having a beer or two a day. But if you take GHB from dawn til dusk, you are going to get into trouble.

This is probably the worst wd i've ever been thriugh, including opiates n benzos. G withdrawal had me shaking for several weeks, going withiut sleep for almost as long, and having hallucinations. But i was using it several times a day multiple days in a row, so you're not there yet but you may be soon. Just watch out, try to decrease your use.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

I don't drink. Since I started GHB I stopped drinking c ompletely, which has been very positive.

InHerOwnWrite, sorry you had such a bad time with it. Can I ask if you were using it the whole day through? And did you stop abruptly or did you taper?

Thanks

I think as long as you dont keep redosing and keeping a GHB level your GHB withdrawel takes place when it wears of.

That happens when you wake up extremely easily in the morning or even at night.

OP, if you never redosed and mostly stayed on GHB for a few hours its unlikely that you will get a withdrawal 2 days after quitting now.
Id pause for 2-3 weeks completely and then consume GHB about once a week in the future.

I would deem that pattern of consumption very safe.
Of couse dont drink alcohol in between because this would be sort of the same thing receptor wise.

if you take ghb more than once a day then you are taking big risk imo..i have taken tons of ghb and bdo thru the years and as long as i kept it at once a day, i was good, never developed problems..
