Before ghb became illegal in the us there were an assortment of "muscle recovery aid" or "body building aid" type of products containing ghb.Could ghb help to speed up muscle recovery after a workout or it is just another urban mith?

Yes. No. Bodybuilders' favorite was/is still steroids and (if they are rich/lucky/ballsy) HGH, and they don't seem to bother much with GHB anymore now that it is illegal.
Incidentally, my personal favorite bodybuilding druggie tidbit is that a lot of them poke smot before competition to increase vascularity.

Smot? what is that? I always thought that they used mad diuretics and suppositories to super dehydrate their bodies subsequently creating a look of increased vascularity.
POssibly on a sub-threshold fuck you up dosage it may be beneficial. I think that it would be a waste of good GHB. Just take glutamine. That helps quite a bit with my muscle soreness.
GHB I would also think that its desired effects of realeasing growth hormone would have a rather undesired effect on woman. (or men for that matter.) I say this out of experience. I know a guy at the gym taking HGH and it caused his feet to grow three sizes. Rather undesirable. Then again I have no idea of GHB's pure ability on releasing growth hormone.
Other side effects of increased GH: Big hands, big forehead. Now thats something to get pumped about. Ha

I lift and have used 1,4 Butenediol (converts to GHB) on occasion for recovery. It is reported that GHB increases the release of HGH (Human Growth Hormone) and is anabolic/anti-catabolic in nature. I no longer use it because of some issues with the addictive qualities but I did find it to be one of the semi-quasi-legal stuff I could take.
