They may well be misinterpreting the association of GHB with bodybuilders, or perhaps confusing HGH (human growth hormone) or some other acronymized hormone with GHB.
GHB is not 'packed' with anything. This reminds me of what most pisses me off about most peoples' understanding of drugs - they think that drugs are mixtures of other compounds, which they are NOT. GHB is not a male hormone, nor does it contain male hormones - it is gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (or the sodium salt thereof) and that's it. GHB is a very simple chemical - put it this way, GHB has 4 carbon atoms and most steroids (real male hormones) have well over 20.
GHB is also a major victim of media hype, and you should research it only from scientific or unbiased mainstream sources - preferably from before about 1998 when it became classified as a 'date rape drug' and was demonized by the media.
The idea that "tolerance is unknown for the first time" is somewhat true, since you don't know what 'your' proper dosage of GHB will be before you try it -- but that does NOT mean that 1 mL or so will kill you.
As far as being female is concerned, females do usually have a slightly smaller amount of LAH (liver alcohol dehydrogenase, the enzyme that breaks down alcohol and GHB) than males, which explains why females of a certain weight can't usually drink as much as males of the same weight.
This is particularly important for 1,4-butanediol, which must be metabolized by the liver into GHB before it becomes active.
I should warn you (though you probably already know) -- and I'm only doing this because a small risk does exist -- that if you've never done 1,4-BDO before, you should understand that your inhibitions may be lowered, and that you may potentially lose consciousness if you take too much. Basically, what I mean is that if there's some things you don't feel comfortable with doing with your boyfriend, you should keep in mind that GHB or 1,4-BDO may cause you to lessen your inhibitions about doing those things. So, be careful about that. Other than those, there's not much that GHB may do to females that it wouldn't do to males as well.
