Getting ready for Opana W/D

Well, you've heard it 100 times before. I'm on my last bit of opana and I'm facing the nasty withdrawals associated with that. That being said, my habit varies. Always snorted (is there any other way to take the stuff? I've heard of IV but i won't try that), and depending on how much I got, my tolerance will let me hit doses of 80-100mg snorted just to feel good. 40mg and I'm buzzing.

I have tried every other opiate out there and ONLY fentanyl comes anywhere close to opana. Fuck oxy, fuck morphine, it's all ibuprofen compared to this stuff.

But how do I survive the hellish withdrawal? I'm going to start by saying I'm not rx'ed opana or anything else. I don't have easy access to my doctor or any other meds because I live in upstate NY and you'd think fucking pills were gold up here. $100 for an opana 40 on the street. Crazy, right? You'd think no one can afford to get addicted to the stuff.

Well I can, and I did. And I regret the extent of my use, but not the use itself. Opana brings on just an indescribable feeling that has to be tried once in your life.

Next time I get some, what tips can I use to make my stuff last longer? How can I survive the withdrawal with limited meds? I mean, all I have are Paxil 20mg tabs and 300mg tylenol with 8mg codeine. When I get more pan, how do I beat the urge to use it all at once? And make it last?

One more thing: I am not just some kid snorting pills. I was in 3 MAJOR car accidents in a span of two weeks and I'm lucky to have escaped with my life, let alone use of my limbs. 4 ruptured neck disks and 3 bulging and 3 herniated in my upper back. At 21 years old. Fucking great. My doctors have been useless for pain management so I'm getting off the street.

My advice would be change your doctor to some who are going to look after you properly. Are you looking to come off opiates completely? I can copy out neversickanymore's list of advised meds for dealing with the symptoms of opiate wd but some of them are prescription only which will mean admitting drug addiction to a doctor (and even then they won't necessarily/almost certainly wont just hand over what you want) but you might find it useful.

Whilst it is possible to taper down on your current drug of abuse, most people find it extemely hard/impossible to do so left to their own devices. If you want to do that though then there's different routes you can take. You can do tapers either rapidly or really slowly, as a smooth slope or as a series of bigger steps with periods of acclimatisation. To work out a plan we will need to know how much you are currently using, what extent of physical wd symptoms you're prepared to endure (e.g. are you working or can you afford to curl up in bed and sweat it out for a fortnight).

A little more info needed!

edit: On re-reading it sounds like you don't have a physical dependance on it, just a psychological addiction?

I could get high as shit off a quarter of a 25mg pill. I'd look for professional help with this. Not to sugar coat it, the withdrawals will be hellish but hopefully you'd be thru the worst of it in a week. If your pain isn't an issue, Suboxone therapy would be a good option.

I wish I had more useful info for you but all I can do is wish you the best of luck.

Hey and welcome to BL:)

Here is that list that omen is refering to

Hey guys,

Thank you for getting back so quickly. I am with a new doctor currently and I'm working on a pain management plan. Basically, working up the painkiller ladder. I'm started on ultram. Which, obviously is shit for me but it will keep withdrawals away.

Because oft chronic pain, I'm going to need medicine for my bad days. If you read about my accidents you'll know why.

As for my dosing, I use about 70-80 mg a day, all by insufflation. Although when I have more in hand, it's more like 120mg. For example, I had 8 of the 20mg ER tablets, I used a handheld power grinder to break them down to a powder (I have a VERY good method to where none is wasted). Anyway, all 160mg was gone in a day and a half.

Like I said, I get everything off the street now, so sometimes I have a lot in supply and sometimes shit is bone dry.

Because of my chronic pain, I am not looking to get off opiates. They help me far too much. I also see my chiropractor every week and do a combo physical therapy/massage therapy. I do not rely solely on opiates.

Until I work my way up to opana, which could be soon due to my condition and the doctor I have, I will continue getting off the street. I was able to get a hold of 2 crushable 40mg tablets and 2 hard rubber 40mg tabs that I broke down into a powder.

Basically, I want to know any tips/tricks for helping me make my opana last longer. Any potential potentiation methods, and also ways of convincing myself only to use it when I absolutely need it.

I don't know if anyone else is addicted to it, but it is so hard for me to taper because of the fact that I'm constantly doing a line here or there just because I have it. Basically, I need to know some self control tips.

And finally, I want some tips for if I get stupid and run myself out, how to endure the w/d best. Preferably without prescribed meds because I'm too nervous/anxious to tell my doctor about my current usage because I want him to eventually prescribe me opana so I don't have to get it off the street.

I work every day. Just 10am-5pm standing at a cash register. Nothing severe, but I have gone through withdrawals 100 thousand times before. I know what it's like all too well.

Hope this info is helpful, and I hope you all get back. I'm going to bed. Thank you guys again!

Dude, the last thing I want to do is scare you, especially knowing that you might be going into WDs. Prior to WDing I would often feel this deep seated fear and anxiety about what was coming. I've been through NASTY IV heroin WDs and I honestly would never try to jump off an Opana habit of your magnitude. I was using around 40-60mg of Opana about two years ago and the WDs would come on so quick and with such severity that I just think you would be better off trying to see a suboxone doctor or trying to taper with another opiate if possible, even to just get down to a lower level of use

Edit: Oh, just read your second post. If you're still going to need opiates, I would really recommend trying to use something else. Right now your tolerance is very high and you're going to have to go through some discomfort if you try and get used to another opiate at a more manageable/reasonable dose.

I know what you mean. I am starting to taper now with what I have: 160mg (4 of the 40mg pills).

What I'm going to do is wait until I begin feeling withdrawal symptoms, then I'm going to take the smallest possible dose just to make them go away. And in going to repeat that plan until I start to lower my tolerance. It won't be easy, but I'm going to try my hardest to make this work.

Last time I used this system, I was able to lower my habit to just 20mg a day, insufflated. Wish me luck, because after I lower my habit, I will be taking your advice and getting a lesser opiate to help me (most likely norco to start, then moving my way up the ladder). Cheers. Let the fun begin...

Another option you may consider is methadone dosed every eight hours. For many methadone has great analgesic properties. Because of its long duration it stabilizes a person from going up and down, but because it analgesic properties are good for eight hours it need to be dosed on that schedule.

That won't lower your tolerance, it will keep it at exactly the same level it's at now. If anything, it will increase your tolerance in the long run.

I agree. IMO there is no way to lower tolerance. even if a person takes a long time off and then resumes taking the substance there tolerance usually returns to where it was strikingly fast.

Yeah I agree to an extent it does jump back up quickly, obviously it won't always be the same though, hence why so many people die of overdoses when relapsing.

The only real way of reducing tolerance is through reducing doage and taking the pain of withdrawal that goes along with that imo.

Hiya JMaughten21,

How are you doing today?

I'm sorry I'm coming into this thread late. I would just like to wish you to very best of luck with your withdrawal and recovery.
You're in good hands with Neversickanymore, he knows his stuff when it comes to addiction.

If you are not aware of them so far I'd like to give you a few links to some thread around OD, TDS and SL that may help you through your detox and recovery. They are
