Bupe Getting on something to taper/kill cravings... bupe/methadone

Hey all, so I am wondering (I did USTFSF, and I'm not trying to get on something to abuse it) how would I go about going to a doctor or a special clinic to help get on something to aid in killing my cravings and even possibly helping me kick my opiate habit over time...

It is a very big distraction in my life constantly thinking about how I can score my next bag and get high, as well as feeling like shit when not having it, and mainly having a hard time functioning without opiates.

Can I just go to any doctor and get a refferal? And how to the so called "methadone clinics" work? I do not have health insurance, but I am willing to pay out of pocket as long as whatever I get appointment-wise, and medicine-wise is not too expensive...

Just looking for help on this subject. Thank you... I did not know where to post this...

Again, I am not trying to be a drug seeker... I am looking for help.

I am currently using between 2 very fat bags of raw-chunk dope... snorting it as my ROA... or using 500+ mg of hydrocodone or large amounts of any other opiate I can get my hands on daily... I cannot go on living like this, the constant thought of getting my next fix, or whatever you call it is just getting very much so on my nerves, and not being able to function without being on something sucks very much so as well.

My tolerance is getting pretty high in my eyes... the two bags that are humungous to begin with barely phase me... I have to do so much to get a nod (which is not what I am going for anymore when I do my dope, even though that would be nice), 180mg of hydro starts to phase me sometimes on an empty stomach... I recently ate 300mg of oxycodone IR tablets with no APAP over a period of 6 hours and I did not really get all that high either...

Its now getting to the point where I just want help with something not to get high, but something long lasting with a gradual taper to help me function and hopefully/possibly get me clean as well.

My WD are not as bad as I expected them to be at this point (I have been using all this shit daily for over a year now, pretty much daily anyway)... but I do not think I have gone more than 2 days without any shit... and on that second day I cannot get up and move around... well I can but it is hard, and the depression that comes with it is really the worst part.

I'm prescribed ADHD medicine (vyvanse) and I cannot even take that shit unless I cram opiates in my system or I feel 10x worse. The vyvanse helps me with my other problems, and actually allows me to see things about myself and my life that I do not normally see without it. That particular medication makes me think about how I should quit the opiates, and how I need help doing it. At this point I would like to let a doctor decide but I would not mind a long term management of some kind of opiod... methadone or subs. Again, I am willing to let the doctor or whoever is in charge decide what is best. I want to do this with someone other than my psychiatrist at the moment because I do not feel as if I have a very good relationship with him. (I see him for free because I qualified for the mental health program back in 2009 due to low income... I am 23.. 24 in a month... been using drugs since I was 17, including opiates which got heavy, but like I said especially super heavy this past year +

Thanks for any help. Don't flame me too much haha.

And I do not have the internet I have to use the library computers... if I don't respond for a day or two that is why... I will be back to check up on this.

Did not know what to prefix this as... opiates or bupe...

Different countries have different procedures for getting people onto bupe and methadone.

Here in Australia there are public clinics and private clinics. Most private clinics will take you on immediately and you pay 8-12 dollars per dose. The public clinics can take alot longer to get onto but they are free.

I don't know how it works in America but I vaguely understand that it alot harder and more expensive, like most things in your health system. You need to see a doctor who is authorised to prescribe bupe/methadone or an addiction specialist. The latter often work out of dosing clinics.

If you see a GP he will probably be able to point you in the right direction, but I would make it very clear to him that you're not trying to hit him for dope or he'll just tell you to fuck off.

Your first stop should be...

Look for a suboxone prescribing doctor in your area, and get inducted. Whatever doc you choose will inform you of what you need to do as far as abstaining from any opiate medication for 12-24 hours(depending on your DOC opiate) and being in mild to moderate withdrawal before starting on suboxone.

The reason I say go with suboxone over methadone is suboxone is a partial agonist versus methadone being a full agonist. The done will get you buzzin, and to me that kinda defeats the purpose(even though it gets you off heroin). The suboxone will not, but what the suboxone will do is make you feel normal. You may get a little bit of a buzz for the first week or so of you taking it, but other than that you will just feel normal, as if you were never addicted to opiates. I also hear methadone taper is HELL(and the withdrawals are the worst out of them all). So take that for what it's worth.

Again that's just my opinion, I'm sure some will say go with 'done over subs and that's fine. Just stating what I would do(and what I DID do).

Thanks for your replies so far, they were helpful. It does point me in the right direction... and I will check out that webpage.

I don't think anyone who has been on methadone maintenance for even a few weeks would agree that it gets you 'buzzing'. Like suboxone, the buzz totally evaporates after a week or two of regular use. Some people find that suboxone is just not sufficient for them and that they really need methadone, but neither will give you a buzz for more than a few days or weeks max.
