ok first off i wasnt really sure where to post this.. so i hope this is the appropriate forum for this.

anyway.. i've been on wellbutrin for a couple years now. the doctor put me on it to help with fatigue after i stopped doing heroin, for which it was pretty useful. im on a relatively low dose, i started at 150mg of sustained release twice daily but for the last year or so i've only been taking it once a day. but lately i've been seriously considering trying to get off this stuff.. i dont feel good about taking it everyday and i dont feel i have much use for it anymore..

so my question is does anyone have experience coming off this drug? when i dont take it i find myself craving opiates and just generally uneasy.. but i havent gone more than a day without it in the last few years. should i try to switch over to a lower dose of instant release and ween myself down? or should i just bite the bullet and stop taking it all together?

any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same question as the OP.

How does one stop Wellbutrin usage if its the only anti-depressant i am taking.
Do I just jump off at 150mg as thats the lowest dosage the pills come in?
What might be the symptoms of stopping Wellbutrin?

If anyone has experience with switching/quitting Wellbutrin, i would really appreciate the insight to it.

Thank You in advance :)

Don't make any changes until informing your doctor that you wish to stop taking Wellbutrin. My only experience is coming off SSRI's and my doctor lowered the dose, then got me to an every other day taper. Really your doctor can tell you the best way to go about this. Wish you luck guys!

You should never quit medication cold turkey. Talk to your doctor and do it right.

That said, is it a financial strain? Is it causing problematic side effects? I understand the desire to get off your meds, it's very common. But I feel like you should ask yourself why. If it's helping you, and it sounds like it is, why get off it? There's still a stigma to taking mental health medication, and that's not a good reason by itself to stop taking it.

my "doctor" doesnt even have the tiniest clue what the fcuk a VALIUM is (it is sold in our pharmacies, of course), i dont think he even knows what "withdrawing" means.
probably something concerning pencils and paper..i would laugh if it wasnt SO sad
at least methadone is free for life, health care is free and hospitals are very advanced and we dont have any people 'abusing' the system. probably because we are so use to our way of life.
