Hey There! New guy here and very glad to see this site exists. I am about to embark...once again...on weaning from oxycodone. I've been taking 180 mg qd for severe pain from a host of problems. Most of the pain causing issues have come to tolerable levels of pain...on the numeric pain scale...3/10 as opposed to previous 8-9/10. I've been taking 30mg six times a day for 9 months. I tried cold turkey once. OH MY FRIGGIN GOD!!! I thought I was gonna implode. Restless leg syndrome, diarrhea, sleeplessness, zero appetite, restless leg syndrome, restless leg syndrome, did I mention restless leg syndrome??!! I don't think I've ever felt worse except for the pain. I'm going to get help from my doc this time...but all the advice and info anyone thinks will be of help...please feel free. I've read a number of posts already and know this is NOT new. Just to me. I'm dreading the withdrawal again but its time to stop. My pain levels no longer warrant such heavy drugs at such high doses. Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to reading all you fine folks can tell me.

Good luck, it ain't easy at all but after all the hell you go through getting clean and when you get where you wanna be.. you'll realize it was worth it.
I'm almost 2 years clean of opiates myself.
*pats self on back* lol.
There are many threads (as im sure you know) about dealing with wd's so i won't waste your time in here with it.
There are comfort meds out there and don't forget to exercise and keep your mind busy.. those help tremendously no matter how hard it seems to get the energy to work out, after you do it you feel much better.

Welcome to BL! :)
Hope you enjoy it here.

Hey Hood,
Thanks for your support. It never even occurred to me to actually get off my w/d'ing butt and exercise. The first time I tried stopping cold turkey I barely had the energy to stand up... :-) :O !!

The endorphin release from exercising can help ease withdrawals greatly and put you in a better mood, and especially help RLS with some leg workouts.
Not to mention exercise is good for anyone regardless of wds or not.
No need to do heavy lifting (while wding your body probably wouldn't be able to handle it anyway) just try to keep moving.
If you have access to a pool i even recommend walking laps around the parameter of the pool as the water will add resistance to your legs while moving providing a workout that helps RLS greatly.
Good luck!

I did a little basic research and what you said is exactly right. Thank you for bringing exercise up as.an additional weapon in my arsenal. I tried a little experiment today. I didn't take my next.two scheduled doses. two hours after the third dose was due and skipped, I wasn't even thinking about it...and I had already begun to feel ever so subtle w/d effects. Man, if my doc can't help me out with this, it's really gonna suck

Quitting opiates is one of the hardest things I've done in my life. It is nearly impossible if you have a job that requires physical strength, the initial symptoms are nausea, loss of appetite, weakness, depression etc. But if you are able to go 96 hours without taking anything, it gets a lot easier. Here is how I did it, I spent the 2nd, 3rd & 4th day sipping on Nyquil, watching netflix, ignoring any calls that came in and focusing on thinking about anything other than getting high. Once you put that idea in your head or someone calls you to go do something or drags you back in it is much harder. Also, they have suboxone now a days so if you take one of those suckers on the 3rd or 4th day when it gets really hard, it will get you through it. Just dont start depending on those. After you are able to function somewhat normally you have to get through the depression phase and then find people to hang out with and do as much physical activity as possible. (sweating will speed up the recovery process and help take the toxins out, thus minimizing withdrawals)

Hell yEA! Glad too see other people advocating this. Nothing beats some heavy deadlifts for endorphin release, But its normal to not feel up to it. Its best to start excersizing lightly before your taper or whatever method you chose to stop. Just try it, it may seem impossible at a time like this, but the psychological results can be amazing. You might find yourself with a whole new addiction- working out

Good luck, I know it's not a popular subject but I think my 24/7 constipation contributed(thank God for spell check) to my continued abuse of Percs.
I have completely changed my diet to water, fruits, water, vegetables, water and smoothies and the flees enema helped:(. Once I had a bowel movement properly it took so much pressure off stomach. It has only been 5 days, but damn I felt better when them big brown twins came out.

P2P,ya the stuff in toilets, drink it it helps.

P2P supposed to be H20, I curse you spell check
It giveth and taketh away, where hv I heard that?
