Hey Jake. I'm the guy who finally quit dope after twenty years because my dealer dumped me..I'm the one who had a relatively low habit, arrested three times, and pretty much lost the most productive years of my life. I'm still clean. After reading about the number of times you have gone back to dope I had to write and tell you about the seven years I stayed clean and how I did it.
Leave. Pulling a "geographical" is not recommended in NA programs because most people just find another contact, but let me tell you how difficult it is to score dope west of the Mississippi. Your a New Jersey guy so I suspect you have easy access to great NYC dope. Well, try cruising late night through a nasty suburban neighborhood in the midwest looking for black tar. It sucks. Both the tar and the environment. The few times I tried scoring there it left me feeling like I was in a scene from the movie Gummo, written by Harmony Corine. A freak show full of the most disgusting people imaginable. We are spoiled here on the East Coast. The dealers and the junkies for that matter tend to be normal, professional folk. Not so out west. Even in California.
Move to a gorgeous little town in Washington state or New Mexico. Work hard, make money, smoke great weed, drink, fall in love. And when you find yourself driving around a deserted strip mall looking for the guy who promised to be back with your tar, you will know what I'm talking about AND YOU WILL BE CLEAN. Hell, even if you do eventually find a connect, you will have a couple of years clean under your belt. Leaving does work for some people.
All the best
