Right im not sure if this is the right place to be posting this buy hey ho. ;)

What gets you guys motivated to work? This is mainly aimed at people stilla t school/college. When you have shitty essays due etc what makes you guys do it? Im having real trouble seeing the 'point', i mean i know the point as in grades>job>money>yay but atm im having a hard time giving a shit about it.

So guys what gets you motivated to do well?
Thanks :)

I give myself simple rewards after working hard for a few hours. Like these:

After a little while of doing that I noticed that I had strengthened my focus and concentration and hard work started to come more naturally (I didn't have to force it by tricking my mind with rewards or whatever). Its all about conditioning yourself into the person you want to be eventually. Whether thats physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally...whatever....its all manipulated in the process of growth.

Think about your future. Once you get older and you realise that youve achieved nothing, that you dont have anything to fall back on, that your not making enough money. Thats when youll wish you worked hard.

hah thats a pretty good way of looking at it i guess, although i havent amnaged to get any for 2 days i feel all meh :(

Yeah this is what everyone is telling me :( is life as a poor person really that terrible? ;/

If you aren't motivated to be in school, I HIGHLY suggest you save your money, drop out, and get a job. This will shed clarity on what you want to do with your life.

May I ask what your major is and what job you want?

Sadly, panic motivates me (the kind of panic that sets in when you realise you have a 3000 essay due in the next day and you haven't even chosen a topic). I wouldn't recommend it.

To a lesser degree, the end result also motivates me. I enjoy producing an essay that I'm really proud of, it makes me feel like I can pretend to be cool and intellectual.

Plus I'm interested in the topic I'm studying.

Erm im in the uk.. doing my GCSE's. DOnt know if that means anything to you?
But to answer your question i want to study veterinary medicine. Dropping out isnt an option :D

And yeah panic is what gets things done for me ;/
thanks guys :)

I want to be a success and make something of myself in life. I have always been told that I have great potential, that I am bright, gifted, creative. All good things. I've had a tough life. I want to prove to myself that I can do it and finish college without having my bipolar get in the way of it again.

I have to work a bit harder at things than a lot of people because of my diagnosis. I just try to always push myself. This semester hasn't been going quite as well as I wanted it to, but I have spoken with my professors and I should do just fine as long as I push a bit harder.

For me, it's important to always try to make myself a bit better. I try to do a little bit of everything and try to be well-rounded. Without the education that I am trying to earn, I don't really feel that I have anything. My education is the most important thing to me right now and I consider education to be a mark of one's success and worth.

It's hard sometimes. I just try to remember that I have been told that I have the ability to do something great and I figure that there are probably people who don't have the chance to go to college like I have.

The biggest thing that motivates me is the fact that I know there are so many other people out there who are mentally ill and would love to be able to go to college and then get a career and be successful, and those people will never, ever get that chance and they don't have the ability to even make the attempt. I want to represent the mentally ill and help end the stigmatization and misinformation, and maybe help to show other people who are mentally ill that they don't have to give up working toward their dreams because of their diagnosis.

Its hard for me to be motivated to do something.. mainly because i can see through the bs behind all the education/western world slavery and that aint the way im goin.

What motivates me is I want to be the best. I most often don't come out as the best in my class, but that's my motivation: competition.

I never try and think too far into the future. If I do then I get overwhelmed and just feel like bailing. Instead I look at things for the next year at the most.

I think about it like: this semester I am going to take these classes so I can take those classes next semester. That way I can actually attempt to complete them and possibly further my career.

If I don't succeed completely, then I learn from it and move on to the next step. Maybe this isn't total motivation but it keeps one foot in front of the next and isn't that really what life is all about.

I think of my future, where I'm going to be at with my good results. An opinion research poll found that rewarding yourself helps to get motivated. Plan to reward yourself, prepare to take a nice vacation, buy a sweet new video game console. Also, you can give yourself little incentives here and there as you progress through your study regimen.
