I would want to taper off the Seroquel under a doctor's supervision.
Well said. I've taken it in the past (not recently) and it does seem important to taper off at the dose you're on.
Seroquel made me manically hungry, and of course, sleepy. This was at 100 mg. I would pass out on the sofa, eat an entire pizza, be super groggy the next day, and then eat some more.
What others, especially n3o, have said about exercise is absolutely true. My symptoms of depression have alleviated... mostly. I walk at least an hour per day, and have just ordered an elliptical trainer. I'm not presently on antidepressants. Not sure how much I weigh, but I'm just shy of 5'7" and the last doctor's visit put me at 135#, putting my BMI at 21.9. I assure you I am not exactly scrawny or perfectly fit, and I eat erratically due to my Ritalin. My highest weight was around 160#.
I haven't taken Abilify. I know one person who swears it changed his life forever in the good way. I know another who took it in conjunction with lithium and said he felt "dead" inside. The second quit cold turkey and promptly had a manic episode that nearly landed him in the hospital.
Do you tend to eat when you are stressed? Instead of that, perhaps go for a walk. I'd go with whatever treatment option your doc recommends unless there is a contraindication or other personal issue.
My continued best to you. You've made a lot of progress.
