I have a prescription for Adderall. I have to go to my Dr.'s office every month to actually pick up the prescription (I guess since it's a controlled substance) and take it to the pharmacy. Last month (June 15th-ish) I went to the Dr. office to get my script and then misplaced it. So I called my Dr. and told him, and he just printed off another one, which I went and got filled. A few days ago I went back to Dr.'s office to get my prescription for July. After picking it up from my Dr. I decided to clean out my car before I went to the pharmacy and in the process found the prescription I had lost. I went to the pharmacy and gave them the prescription I had lost just to see if they would fill it, and they did with no questions. So now I have a prescription for the same medication that I just got filled (and it's dated for July 17th) and I'm wondering if I could go to another pharmacy and get it filled. Would the other pharmacy know I already got it filled for this month, even if it's a different company? Would they call my Dr. to find out (even if I went after my Dr.'s office was closed)? Any inside information would be greatly appreciated.

We really can't give you advice on how to Dr. shop unfortunately as it's against forum guidelines.

They may call your doctor know one but your doctor would know.

If you value your prescription I'd say it's in your best interests to wait until next month before filling it again.

I'm not surprised they filled your old script without issue. That's allowed in many places.

Why do you want to fill the extra prescription in the same month? Your doctor was kind enough to give you another script when you said you lost your old one, so why are you trying to ruin your good relationship with your doctor by illegally getting more medication than you're supposed to get? BL isn't here to help you rig the system.

Not sure, but it might not be worth risking because if the Dr. finds out he could very well cut you off the medication.

Also I think there might be a code tied to Rx's for controlled substances, The Dr. has to generate a code that he puts on the Rx and the pharmacy probably checks to see that it is valid. If this is the case he most likely would have cancelled the other code, and not only will you not get it filled, but they could notify your Dr. I would not take the risk for 1 extra month of meds.

Two adderall scripts

Pharmacists are required to enter the information for all controlled substances filled into a database that is accessible by all other pharmacies in the state as well as all doctors. If you go to another pharmacy then they will still see that you got it filled recently, and probably call your doctor to report that you were trying to have two scripts filled right after each other. I don't know if they made them document it in real time yet, or if there is a 72 hour grace period, but even if you got it filled in that small window of time it would still catch up to you quickly and your doctor would surely be notified. It doesn't matter that his office might be closed at the time they call, because they will continue to call each day until they reach him.

You are risking never being able to get that prescription from that doctor ever again just so you can get 1 extra script. Also, if it gets filled and the doctor is notified and refuses to see you again, the next doctor you go to will look at your prescription records and see that you got two prescriptions back-to-back like that and will turn you away since they won't want to be involved in a doctor shopping case.

Don't do it.

...Honestly you should just be happy he wrote you another script when you lost the other one. He probably won't do it again. He very well could have told you tough luck, even people in pain management have issues with getting a new script if something happens to their pills. I mean I know of an 85 y/o lady on dialysis who got her percs stolen and they would not give her a new script, so she had to half her dose for almost a month.

They will know, if not the state tracking then the pharmacy computers will catch, along with your insurance. Prescriptions are good for up to a year usually so they just filled it because it was time again anyways. If you try to get another one now you not only could get in trouble but you may piss off your doctor and not have access to your meds anymore.

Sorry, this is legal discussion (and more or less asking how to get around controlled substance prescription laws...) and we don't do either.

I'm closing this thread. I encourage you to read the posting guidelines and Bluelight User Agreement (BLUA). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
