I got 1mg Ativans from my doc. Im new to benzos. What can i say to get something stronger or different?

your doctor will probably up the dosage before he gives you something different...doctors tend to stick with the drugs THEY like and have experience prescribing....you basically have a few options if you want to work him for more/different benzos:
-tell him you took 1mg and still felt very anxious (or awake if you are taking it for insomnia) after three hours then, out of panic, took another 1mg and it seemed to work a little better
-tell him it doesn't work quickly enough when you take it...he *may* switch you to a shorter acting benzo like xanax, although ativan is fairly short acting itself
-or tell him it works but doesn't last long enough and you have to take it again after five or six hours, and you may get a longer acting benzo like klonopin or valium
of course he might try to give you an SSRI, in which case you tell him you are afraid of the sexual side effects because you have a long history of impotence and sexual inadequacy
edit: just one more thing...you can always try the memory loss/leaves me feeling hungover complaint, but ativan is fairly mild for both of these, especially at 1mg, so probably not a good idea at this point in your scripting career

You're already taking 1mg Ativan, this is about twice what most people start with... don't ruin it by trying to up the dose right away, instead stick with it, tell him how, for the most part, it works great.. a few months from now you can hit him up for something more (you would most likely get a higher dose) .. it's easier to go from a long acting benzo to something shorter - Ativan is fairly short acting, so don't press it... tollerance would dictate that you will eventually need to increase the dose...

How do you get better benzos? Ativan and Klonopin are prolly the best things out in the US.. unless you like xanax?

ok now that i got that sqaured away. Can i just go to a different doctor and complain of the same sypmtoms and hopefully get more?

listen, if you want more benzos get them off the internet.. it's easier than you think and dirt cheap. 100x2mg Klonopin is like 40 dollars. They may be generic, but do you care?

yeah i've been on xanax, after awhile it stopped working. then i went on .50 of klonopin.....then i told the doc "i was still feelign anxious" and he upped it to 1.0mg. i'm interested to see stuff on ativan though, don't know much about it
