The cops here in L.A. are total dicks.. They are so agressive and beak so many rules! For example, the other night in hollywood we got a little lost and this cop followed us with his headlights off! He could have fucking killed someone what an idiot! Shit I thought texas cops were dicks they have nothing on cali cops..

Yeah there looks like quite a bit of disadvantages to getting a medical card but walking into a dispensery would make it all worth it.

Sucks.

Around here, I can light up a joint in front of a cop and the most he'll do is give me a warning.

OK thanks for all of the clarification about why a MMJ card has its disadvantages.

I figured that someone would write about how getting a card puts your name on a list as a known drug user but I'm sure there are privacy laws concerning that sort of thing not only with your doctor or medical care provider but also with clubs and with HIPPA laws.

Getting a card is simple. Migraines, lower back pain. If you're female: cramps. You're in and out of those doctors' offices within 5 min.

i'm in the same city as you, and i agree with pretty much everything you said except for that ^^. based on what i've read in the local publications and the experience i had a few months ago renewing my card, it seems like the doctors are getting more strict. at least one wave of loose cannons have already lost their licenses, and there's a major push from within the medical marijuana movement to keep things legitimate. i cited cramps my first time a couple years ago but couldn't get a recommendation without proper medical docs this go round.

be prepared: more and more consultations are requiring paperwork. if you have any history of medical issues, bring your records and think about how to make a case for a recommendation. it's not quite as wide open as showing up with $100 and whining about your insomnia, at least not everywhere.

once you're in though, it's good fun. i love my legal status even if it does still have limits.

this might not matter if california votes favorably on legalizing marijuana outright: read more about "tax cannabis 2010".

ya i read something similar to this.. about how a copy of every card gets sent to the police station of each county. made me paranoid about getting a card but i haven't heard anything to validate my paranoia so idk if its worth trippin about.
