So basically my goal is to save the seeds I get from my poppies this year so that I can plant them next year but I want to preserve the potency of the strain.
So I just planted my Turkish Blues and my problem is deciding whether or not I should plant my Persian Whites.
I have only one bed so separation is not an option.
Given the quality of the two strains which have been well bred for many years I am worried about the results of incidental cross-pollination between them.
I'm hoping someone with experience might be able to help me figure this out. If the strains are crossed would the superior genetics of the strains be lost.
The closest answer I could find is that next years grow will be a mixed bag in terms of color which I am ok with.
What I have been unable to figure out is if the genetics that effect potency will go awry and produce strains of inferior potency in the years to come.
Thank you in advance for your help
