First I want to start out by saying I no longer abuse drugs (4+ years clean), but due to a slew of medical problems, I have suffered from severe chronic pain since my teens (I am in my 30's now). One reason for being able to get clean was that I ended up on Opana ER, which gave me back a life (albeit with lots of pain, but reduced enough to live). Unfortunately, because of my abuse in the past coupled with many years on opiates, my tolerance became ungodly, so I was on a high dose of the biggest (40mg) opana. Long story short, when the new Opanas came out, I found them to be awful. Luckily, I found out about the generic (old formula) Opana ER, in 7.5 and 15mg, and my doc switched me to those. The problem is that he had to reduce my dose (because an equivalent dose would have just been way too many pills). I totally agree with the decrease, and I am just happy that he is nice enough to work with me and script me to the 15mg pills, but my pain is so much worse, that my life is heavily affected. I had read that the generic Opana ER would be coming out from Watson Pharma on Sept. 15th, but the date came and passed with nothing. I called Watson and they said they are producing the pills but have not recieved the final OK from the FDA to start shipping, and I should call back in a FEW MONTHS. I do know that a few other companies had been given the OK by the FDA to produce the higher doses of generic Opana ER this year/Early 2013.
My question is: Does anyone have any information on when the higher dose Opana ER generics will be coming to market, and from what company? Any (REAL) info would be appreciated (please no 'my friend's brother's gardener is getting generic 40's now!'). Thank you!
MODS: I hope you can keep this as its own post, but if you feel the need to merge this with the chronic pain thread, I understand. Thank you!
