80mgs of oxycodone is 80mgs of oxycodone regardless of who manufactures it.
IT'S ALL THE SAME
Your first statement is true, but this doesn't necessarily get the same affects if snorted. Your second statement is actually incorrect however. I have actually tried these new Teva 80 mg oc's and let me tell you, there are many noticeable differences.
So after doing the generics for a couple days, I can definitly say the generics are definitly weaker overall.
It surprises me that it actually took you a a couple of days to notice a difference in it's potency. As for myself, being a regular user of oxycontin for a while, a few of the differences that I personally noticed are as follows: The outer coating does not come off as easy as regular OC, I had to actually wipe it off with a napkin after a minute or so of sucking on the pill. Purdue's brand would have been clean and not need the post-wipe. It also does not share the same delicious oxy stale taste, it's much more bland in comparison. When crushed I also find that if the surface used the to crush the pill is not hard or stable enough then you will have a more challenging time crush the pill. A bit more effort is required then the normal non-generic oxy.
As far a snorting the generic oxy it went up just as easy but was not accompanied with the infamous oxy drip which I love. This is probably the biggest reason why I prefer the oringnal OC to the Teva's brand. But as Felon mentioned, beggers can't be choosers. In place of a drip the Teva brand oxy seems to just salivate and almost liquify to a slimmy form while resting in you nose. Teva may have designed it so It could not be as easily snorted. I couldn't say for sure with the limited research I have done so far on this subject of generic oxys.
Over all I have found that the new OC's are not nearly a strong as far as potency and are only 6 on my opiate scale. The teva brand OC's are the same amount so I believe that they very well be just a potien as Purdue's brand. I am not a regular oral user of oxy so I wouldn't be able to say for sure. When it comes to snorting this substance the generic doesn't have 80% potency of the original, it appears to be more along the lines of only 60-70%.
Oxycontin, ask for it by name.
I'll post more observations as the come up.
