I have a prescription that is labeled "IC hydromorphone 2mg tab" and under it, it says "Common brand: dilaudid."

I've snorted some of this and feel pretty nauseas.. I've heard rumor of this containing acetaminophen? Anyone know if this is true?

I think I have mallinckrodt hydromorphone.. so that's the brand.

Thank you!

No, it's hydromorphone only.

Nausea is a common side effect of opiate overdosage/misuse. It probably just hit you too hard.

May it also cause anxiety?

I'm feeling better now! Just the acetaminophen scare is all I suppose

Mallies are my favorite brand of hydromorphone :). I love(d) those little boogers. There have been quite a few hydromorphone questions lately. If you aren't used to opiates in general, hydromorphone is pretty strong, they will make you a bit queazy.

I guess that makes sense- yeah, I have the mallinckrodt hydromorphone brand. I did 4mg on Wednesday, 3mg yesterday, and about 4mg today, exact I didn't space it out as much. I got really queasy and dizzy and bad anxiety. Sure theres no acetaminophen in them? Just trying to be cautious- I also have no prior experience with opiates

How much did you snort and what kind of tolerance do you have? It sounds like you may have done a bit too much. Remember, hydromorphone has a fairly good intranasal bioavailability, just over 20% better than oral. For me personally, on a 0 tolerance level, it takes me 8mg of hydromorphone to take away the pain, 12mg to catch a nice buzz, and 16mg will make me feeling sick and nauseous as if I just took some oxy. Start low and work your way up, especially with potent opiates like this.

There is definitely no acetaminophen in them, plus if there were it would say on the label. Drug makers can't secretly put acetaminophen in something, that would be illegal. And as Tricomb said, the pills are too small to have acetaminophen or APAP etc in them. It's a very common side effect to feel nausea from any opioid, especially if you are new to it or take more than usual. As for the anxiety, I have never heard of anxiety being caused by hydromorphone, only irritability. But some people get anxious when doing drugs for purely psychological reasons, like worrying they took too much or that they are having a bad reaction.

If you have no prior experience with opioids I wouldn't suggest starting with Dilaudid, you can get addicted fast or overdose easily. Be very careful and take less next time.

OP, you may want to trade your hydromorphone for a bigger quantity of a lesser-strength opioid like oxycodone or hydrocodone. If you are getting nausea from taking your opiates consider taking diphenhydramine (benadryl) or dimenhydrinate (dramamine) before you ingest any opiates.

And if you can get a RX medication like zofran, tigan, or reglan that can be really helpful.

Good luck OP

Thanks all for the info!
Does anyone have any advice on how to combat the nausea? Whenever I seem to do this, the buzz always comes with a terrible feeling of like I'm gonna throw up.. any help?

Cannabis, Rx anti-emetics like zofran, tiglan, reglan (as mentioned), diphenhydramine/dimenhydrinate/promethazine (old school H1 antihistamines) are all considered the first line of defense in opioid nausea, pick one and see if it works for you. Take a 'normal' dose (e.g. 25mg diphenhydramine) 10-20 mins before you dose your opioid.

Or take less.
