Is Gamma Butyrolactone(GBL) a scheduled substance? Also, what is a normal starting/medium dose for GBL?

No, it's a listed precursor meaning that it's not illegal to buy, sell, own, etc.. HOWEVER there are threashold amounts that warrant reporting, in other words, you could buy a small amount with no problems (well, in theory, the reality is most anyone wont sell it to you) but if you wanted a 55 gallon drum you would have to fill out a ton of papwerwork and DEA forms...
There are also analog laws.. for instance, if yer caught with only a few mL of GBL but you are selling it for human consumption or you have some NaOH - yer fucked...

If one were to buy GBL here in the states, I would suggest keeping it in the original container; preferably one that is labled as 'ink cleaner' or something along those lines. Just make sure you have a legitamate use for it in case you run into trouble.
I have heard that 3mL is a good recreational dose, but I reccomend that you start with 1mL to get a feel for it, always start low and work your way up. Also, avoid eating avoid eating anything for at least 3 hours before ingestion, as food can severely delay the absorption of GBL.

the doses I keep seeing posted for pure GBL are complete whack!
You'll get absolutely fucked on 3 ml of gbl on an empty stomach...that means headspins, dizzyness, nausea, loss of motor control, sleepiness...NOT fun
u might want to start with 0.60ml and work your way up...above 1ml it gets way too drowsy to be considered "fun"

Yes, that's true.
The threshold fot GBL is 0. Unless you are a hospital, a University or a research center with a DEA permit, a written order, a letter of intended use, and permissioon from your home state, the possession, sale, distribution, or use of GBL will get your booty in jail.
If you want to check this out by yourself, the DEA code for GBL is 2011.
Be careful!

Hey Exx_Head, I don't see GBL listed on any of those lists from that link.

Posted in every lab store, chem distributorship or manufacturing plant is a single, yellow sheet of paper that the DEA has sent to them. Printed on the paper is the List I and List II Scheduled Chemicals that the DEA wants restricted. The table below is an exact replica of the most current list as of early 1998. Included are also all salts and optical isomers (where applicable) of the compounds, as well as salts of optical isomers.
List I Chemicals
Anthranilic Acid
N-Methylpseudoephedrine
Benzaldehyde
Nitroethane
Benzyl Cyanide
Norpseudoephedrine
Ephedrine
Phenylacetic Acid
Ergonovine
Phenylpropanolamine
Ergotamine
Piperidine
Ethylamine
Piperonal
Hydriodic Acid (57%)
Propionic Anhydride
Isosafrole
Pseudoephedrine
Methylamine
Safrole
N-Acetylanthranilic Acid
MD-P2P
N-Methylephedrine
gamma-Butyrolactone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phosphorous (red, white and yellow)
Hypophosphorous Acid
List II Chemicals Threshold by vol. Threshold by wt.
Acetic Anhydride 250 gallons 1023 kg
Acetone 50 gallons 150 kg
Benzyl Chloride N/A 1 kg
Ethyl Ether 50 gallons 135.8 kg
Methyl Ethyl Ketone 50 gallons 145 kg
Potassium Permanganate N/A 55 kg
Toluene 50 gallons 159 kg
Iodine N/A 400g
Anhydrous Hydrogen Chloride N/A N/A
List I Chemicals (a.k.a. Schedule I Chemicals, a.k.a. Precursor Chemicals) are all illegal to own or buy in any quantity without a DEA or State Permit. List II Chemicals (a.k.a. Schedule II Chemicals, a.k.a. Essential Chemicals) can be purchased legally in amounts below the limits stated in Table I. But if you want to buy amounts of List II chemicals above the thresholds given in Table I, then you're gonna need that DEA or state permit.
Most lab stores simply refuse to sell List I and List II chemicals because of the stigma they carry. This includes sales to people with permits. That is just fine in my book. No one has any business buying List I and List II chemicals, nor does anyone have any need for the chemicals these days. In fact, I have a greater trust in companies that do this. This is because they are limiting the potential for abuse by customers, thus freeing themselves to more confidently sell the rest of their chems and products.
I guess I have to do the research AND read it to you? I'm not trying to be a smartass, but come on people. Learn to use the net.

What if it were bought from a company in another country? Say the UK? Would the DEA know about it then?

Do a search on the legal forum- they know- and you will get busted... it was posted about a month ago.

kjb, you are not ready to fuck around with this stuff, nor mess with ordering it. I suggest you find a hook-up. You really need to do a lot more research.

Yah its 1,4 that is legal to possess but is illegal under analog laws no?

Well, that's what I was doing. Researching. I didn't say I ordered anything. I found a resource for the GBL, I researched it, and now I've decided to forget about it. I'll stick with AMT, and Foxy for now. Thanks to all of you for the info.
