Ganja baconfat

^ Lol, you can wake and bake with bacon toast and finish up the day with the firecrackers. Think fo how much better it would be for your lungs.

should be just as effective as butter, though theoretically more since there are no suspended milk solids

What do you mean with this if I may ask? Because I often use milk to consume cannabis, butter not so much though.

this sounds like a good idea

bacon fat is so versatile, i dont know why everyone is bashing it on here.

it adds flavor to anything.

lol, zigzag, at the mere smell bacon fat my stomach turns. I used to wake up in my house, my pops would be cooking bacon, and I'd start off the day feeling like I had to puke.

But this thread has been enlightening, I actually want to try some bacon toast now!

im getting a craving for two eggs over well, bacon, seasoned homefries, toast with cannabaconfat, and black coffee.

I'm not gonna quote all the statements in here that i feel that i need to set straight.. instead i will just post my response to all of them...

For those of you who said use an oil... Oil is much lower in fat content than bacon fat.. and still lower in fat content than butter.. when cooking with marijuana the ideal ingredient to use is that which contains the highest amount of FAT since the THC binds to the fat when cooked.. that's why, though not as healthy as oil or butter, lard or bacon fat is the best means for making a cannabutter alternatives.. since they both have high levels of fat in them.. resulting in a much more potent final product

Oil is fat (with minute amounts of lipid soluble compounds, too). Same with butter.

hmm he might have a point though, mammalian lipids may have better absorption characteristics than plant lipids.

determining the difference would make for a good experiment :)

Any lipid will work, really. Bacon fat seems fine.

I generally just use things with a high smoke point, like peanut oil or just simple vegetable oil. Still, I've found cannabutter will ultimately be the most potent, but only if you use the method with water, where you separate the butter and water layers in the fridge; the reason being that the water will buffer the temperature, and also add volume to the liquid so that you can fit tons more THC into the same amount of butter. I suppose you could use the same method with any oil provided that you have a separatory funnel; butter is really ideal, though, because it congeals at refrigerator temperatures making it very easy to separate.

When i make my scrambled eggs, i microwave the bacon (yes, i'm crazy, but it's the way i likes it :P)
I cook on a pyrex dish, and used to use paper towels to soak up the grease / fat that is released through the microwaving process. A few years ago, the Irish mother suggested i substitute paper towels with slices of bread, ie: slices of bread on top of pyrex bowl, with bacon on top. (obviously, i defrost the bacon first, in paper towel, so you don't get soggy assed bread.)

But once the bacon has been cooked over the bread, the fat drips down into the bread, and then solidifies. I get this great, cracker dry bread slice that tastes and smells of bacon, and works a treat with butter / salt + pepper.

I'd definitely suggest trying it this way, only i'd suggest caution when dabbling with microwaves and weed :S Firecrackers are good, yes, but Bacon toast, man, BACON TOAST!

Man bacon toast sounds awesome.. I want some!

I dont think bacon fat is really viable unless you plan on eating it immediately - eww, old bacon fat.

The whole process does give a new meaning to wake and bake though, I must admit.

For the record, I love to cook with baconfat. My standard mode of making eggs is to first make bacon, then fry the eggs in the fat. It's also great to make hash browns in.

Do you cook with Tefflon or something?
I don't like to cook the bacon until last, because i cook with cast iron or w/e and the damned baconfat just makes everything stick ><
