Now, the question is, does that square mileage all represent area that the player can traverse? Because in a racing game like Burnout Paradise, for instance, I assume you can only drive on the streets, which comprise probably less than half of the actual map area -- there's probably a lot of off-road land that you never even get to see. Whereas in a game like Oblivion, you can actually walk across every square inch of that map, and then there are dungeons and caves and other interior areas that aren't even included on the map. What I'm saying is, that simple comparison is probably not a very good measure of the true "size" of those game worlds.
