Was a big fan of the novels from the first time I read them. One of the better fantasy series out there, in a genre dominated by stagnant, boring, poorly written highschool-level wankery. I can honestly say that A Song of Ice and Fire, as a universe, trumps Tolkien's mythopoeia, in completeness, complexity, and downright quality.

fixed that for you.

HAS NO ONE ELSE SEEN EPISODE 7??!?!?!

good god. :|

Episode 7 is fucking incredible. I can't say I've ever experienced such a cliffhanger in any show or movie. Having not read the books I have no idea what the fuck is about to go down.

RIP King Robert.

I have NOT read the books, but I suppose I'm going to. Episode 7 was fucking insane. The whole incest thing about Joffrey, and Ned going to die? talk about a cliffhanger. Never trusted Littlefinger. Second best show on tv, nothing will touch True Blood but that's a whole different topic

I think this can only be answered with a conspiracy theory: ;)

NSFW:
Since you mentioned Tysha, here's a question: Have you ever wondered when Tyrion took up whoring?

Was it before or after Tysha?

After reading the third book, if you think about it, it's kind of depressing.

CROSSOVER TIME

Sam Tarly as someone or another on Borgias

also, shouldn't Ghost not bark? Because he's mute?

Episode 7 was brilliant. This series is generally amazing and it's not usually the kind of thing I watch. Peter Dinklage has my vote for best actor.

watched 7 episodes in one sitting (thanks marijuana)

it was good. bonus points for it having loads of titty action.

so, last night

NSFW:
the death of the Bravosi dancing teacher Syrio was gut wrenching. totally sad and upsetting. but it was what had to happen and i applaud him for knowning that they would both die, or just Arya would die, and giving it up for her. I take my hat off to you Syrio.

book spoiler
NSFW:
totally depressing that the one little cut brings down Khal Drogo.

Khal Drogo standing up for his lady was awesome. Their relationship is serious and it is nice to see that they both care for each other, to the point where Drogo would kill a dothraki for mouthing off to his 'foreign whore'.

at least Sansa was a little better. She's so terrible in the books, but made even worse by the tv adaptation of her.

It was written by George R R Martin this time, so maybe that had something to do with the way this episode felt. Robb finally got...something. you know, any sort of story line. Robb has been all over the place so far, but finally we get something.

I've been basically spot on in my predictions based on the titles of the episodes, which is cool, i suppose. still:

no bastard sword for jon yet

good episode

^It was a REALLY good episode..........

What's this about bastard sword?
NSFW:
Will Jon leave the Night's Watch?
Will this season have the Starks all wiped out? Does that happen at all?
Will Jeoffery the Dbag inbred kid die this season? (please say yes)

Amazing ep. Besides the random big packaged Hodor. Finally getting to the real action, the last two are as gonna be amazing as fuck as I'm hearing from the people who read the books.

1. No, and:
NSFW:
Jon saved Mormont's life and received serious burns on his hand. Mormont gave him the Valyrian steel bastard sword, Longclaw, of House Mormont, and had a direwolf head engraved onto the pommel in honor of House Stark.

from the asoiaf wiki. ^^ the saving/burning hand part happened, but no sword yet.

2. No, and no.
3. No, sadly.

Episode 8 was very entertaining. No sex for once which surprised me. ;)

I really hope that Arya's sword fighting instructor is OK. Can't remember his name. :s

Sex, Violence and Sean Bean. Can we ask for anything more?

I read the series a few years back so just re-read book 1 and watched all 8 episodes. I'm incredibly impressed so far all around. Don't even know what else to say.. incredibly well put together series - casting, acting, costumes, sets, dialogue - it's all awesome.

^ I'd have to agree, I'm really enjoying every episode of this series. I'm going to run it by some friends or a sibling who haven't read the books and gauge their opinions. I'm not sure whether too much from the books is being cut out and whether having read them is giving me some positive bias as I understand what's going on already, the characters, bloodlines, background etc.

The actors have nailed the characters pretty well in my opinion: loving Tyrion & Bron, Cersei Jamie and Tywin, and of course Dany & Jon in particular. Varys seems a little off though, perhaps a little wooden?

He seems alright to me. Varys is a survivor by nature and I get that feeling from him in the series as well.

NSFW:
I found that this last episode rushed through some of the content, considering Rob just went from inheriting a kingdom to bartering with the Freys and fighting battles with the Tywin's army in a matter of about 10 minutes.

Cyc

(CONTAINS MAJOR PLOT POINT SPOILERS FOR BOOK ONE, TWO, THREE)

NSFW:
I think the pacing will continue to be all over the place (some speedy, some long) because certain character arcs are going to come to an end quicker than others, and they have to pack a lot of information into just a few more episodes. I think that this book will be 'over' by the end of this series -- at least to the point where we know who all the people are vying to be King, who stands where, etc. I think Robb is moving so much faster because the real Stark story arch isn't Robb, it's Jon & Bran, and until Robb is dead they kind of get the short shift. Dany's is also moving extremely fast, it looks like next episode Khal will die and she will give birth to the Dragons, which is literally the last five pages of the book. I think HBO wants to stream line some of the story arcs that are doomed (Robb, Ned, perhaps even to the wedding of Sansa & Jofferey/death) into this first season, and really focus on and develop the long, major, over reaching story arcs (Jon, Dany, Bran, The other Baratheon Brothers) into the next season.

who knows though.

^ yeh I agree, only 2 episodes left this season right? haha I shouldn't have read that spoiler, one point in there I didn't know yet, doh >.<

btw,

NSFW:
How fucking bad-ass was Barristan getting thrown out of the kingsguard by Cersei: "Even now I could cut through the five of you like carving a cake"... fuck yeh what a champ. I have to re-watch that as apparently one of the kingsguard can't re-sheath his sword as they're escorting him out :) I'm only up to the third book but I hope Barristan comes back into the series at a later point.

i'm sorry, i've been trying to label all the spoilers i post accordingly :(

sorry belarki!
