Dont mix up the strong addictive pull fentanyl has, and you making ANY excuse to take more it. with REAL feelings of self worth related to pain.
whilst it may seem to give you a boost, make you forget the pain and let you get on with things, its extremely short lived lived and youll soon be wanting more and more, eating through your prescription (youve already used a 9 day supply in 1 day, for instance. what are you going to do when they run out? ill tell you, youll be in a sweatty mess, begging your family or friends to find you some heroin, from your bedside)
I made the mistake of chewing patches, there is alot of plastic type chemicals in there that are very bad for the liver and kidneys.
aside from fatalities and accidents. chewing them is a waste of fentanyl and will result in severe GI troubles.
you should not need to chew 3 of these in 24 hours.
my patches were the smaller dosage, id make 100s of tiny scratches into the adhesive side using a sharp knife being careful not to cut it in half. (youll just cut the patch into shards if youre not careful) and stick it to the warmest part of your body, the nearest to your heart works best, nearer fatty tissue. rough-up the skin untill ever so slightly inflamed, id use an alcohol wipe too. then stick something over the top of the patch so that it doesnt get wet underneath when you wash. I used to stick a patch to my bicep, and whenever i needed a little extra relief id run my arm under warm water for a while untill i felt better. this is relatively safe compared to chewing.
dont bother putting those patches in your mouth, its such a waste, and can be so dangerous. ive been woken up by family members waiting to use the restroom.. (id fell into a deep sleep on the toilet.. imagine if id been in the bath.
If you must seek a quicker onset for your pain, then make sure to brush any dead skincells from your all around your cheeks and gums. dry the inside of your cheek and try sticking 1/6th to 1/3rd or less there DO NOT CHEW, there is absolutely no need, this will release too much more than you require. doesnt matter if it gets a little moist. just try to keep the saliva from pooling up around your cheek and washing the fentanyl away. give it 10-15 minutes and see how you feel then TAKE IT OUT otherwise youll just be skyrocketing your tolerance like i did. any dosage over a certain amount will either prove fatal, or will saturate your receptors causing quick (and in the case of fentanyl, most often permanent) downregulation and life long dependance. (either that or life long depression and a seemingly parkinsons-like dopaminergic shutdown rendering you unable to do anything without strong opioids)
you probably wont listen to anything i say, but over time you will come to realise the benefits of having a slower release painkiller.. by then itll be too late, and you wont get anything from wearing the patches.
If you are still in pain from your current dose, why not speak to the doctor? about increasing (you are already on the max dose, but some doctors will allow you to place 2 patches per 72 hours)
