Hi,

I found a few years back, while feeling very suicidal, benzos seem to take away my all over body pain.

I had never taken benzos before, and on the first couple of weeks, I could even take around 80mg of prescribed valium per day, anyone else even with tolerance I knew that took benzos would pass out. I guess I must have some kind of natural tolerance?

I started taking benzos 2-3 times a week in the form of xanax, about 6 - 10mg. Sometimes had a few weeks off, to resume some other type of benzo.

Then for about 6 months I took etizolam, around 2-3 times a week (about 6 - 10mg - small blue tablets).

Then the supply run out, and I took gabapentin. And whoa, I was back to my normal self from years back, happy, pain free, not depressed. But I needed high doses....

For the last month since finding gabapentin I have taken on average 4 - 5g a day, and on some days up to 12g.

I ran out 3 days ago, and I am in so much pain I can't get to work. To get across the street is a struggle from the amount of muscle pain, weakness, and I feel like I am dying. Appetite is non existant, I am trying having to force feed myself and I almost have no energy to even do this.

Is this normal?

Hi John, yes, it's perfectly normal to be in withdrawal from gabapentin, especially at the doses you were taking.

You must see a doctor ASAP. He'll give you back gabapentin and you'll buid a taper schedule with him.

Please do it, as gabapentin withdrawals can be nasty. I don't know if gabapentin withdrawal can lead you to death, but benzodiazepine withdrawal does, and as both drugs are acting on GABA receptors, I wouldn't play with fire.

Good luck and keep us informed of your situation ;)
