Gabapentinoids Gabapentin Tolerance Reset

My doc recently filled a script for me. I took for 4 straight days, about 600 mg divided in two, covering the entire day. I noticed tolerance built fast. Music on Gabapentin is really nice btw. By day 4 I really wasn't getting much out of it. Haven't taken any for 3 days.

My question, is 3 days long enough to reset some tolerance?

It's enough to reduce tolerance somewhat, but you may find a single dose will return it to it's previously high level.

If you are intending to keep tolerance to this drug as low as possible for as long as possible, I'd suggest once a week usage at the most.

This may be old news to most but the Gapapentenoid family of drugs (Gabapentin and Pregabalin) don't just produce tolerance but also a physical withdrawal syndrome that is particularly intense for some. It's extra reason to keep the tolerance low but spacing doses out as much as possible.

I often wonder how gabapentinoids were overlooked many years back. Around the time of the whole oxycontin explosion docs were giving people neurontin too. But it was written off as a nothing med. Yes music sounds good on it. The total opposite to me of a benzo. I would never take a benzo and go see music, but I would take gabapentin or pregabalin and see or listen to music. I long for the day we find a plant in nature where a standard dose feels like 1500 mgs of gabapentin. (my go to dose when I indulge)

Tolerance goes down quick. Reminds me of THC. I never really used daily, but a few times I used two days in a row and I still felt it strong the second day at a lesser dose. If I kept going it probably would have stopped working. But I bet a week off would do wonders for tolerance. 3 days will do something. Just skip some days in between.

I can confirm it absolutely did. I'm taking baby doses too. 200 mg after breakfast. Then did 100 mg after an hour and another 100 mg after that hour.

Won't take anymore until Saturday.
Monday is my benzo day.

As an aside. I know it's supposed to be an anxiolytic and I do feel mellow on it but there's a bit of activation energy too. Not uncomfortable really but also not like a benzo for nuking panic etc

^ Yeah those are tiny doses. Having read most of the gabapentin threads one thing that stands out are the people that gobble all 270 pills in a week and then go 3 weeks without. Claiming no withdrawal. However after several years of doing that some finally come back and say they felt the withdrawal finally. But some people take sick amounts. Like 6 + grams. However I will never forget what @nznity said, 1500 mgs is plenty and I agree. I took 3000 mgs a few times, it was very strong. I like the subtle doses myself. Less addiction potential although plenty of people claim the never get withdrawal. Like non BL people. :)

I've never had experience with Gabapentin but Pregabalin is well known to me. I started at maybe 300mg per dose and this produced a very good effect. Moving up another 300mg did improve it's positive effects but the dizziness was a deak breaker. These drugs really are enjoyed occasionally and at moderate doses.

A handful of friends used doses of a gram+ once or twice a week for years and never reported a withdrawal syndrome.

It's been reassuring to see the consensus on Gabapentanoids switch from "mostly innocuous" to a position recognising it's ability to produce a withdrawal syndrome similar to Bendodiazepines. At my worst I was using maybe 3g of Pregabalin a day (along with Opioids). Ceasing the Pregabalin was a profoundly difficult process involving the standard profile of Benzodiazepine withdrawal including the seizures.

The restricting of it's prescription for mental health disoders, while positive, is somewhat disappointing. For many they do have the capacity to improve mood, restlessness and anxiety for long periods of time unlike our other choices, which are either poorly effective, lose effectiveness rapidly or produce unpleasant side effects.

It takes 7 days to reduce Gabapentin tolerance by 50%.

EDIT: This is something I remember reading in a study btw, so it's legit, not just heresay or my person experience.

How gnarly is the withdrawal in comparison to benzos or opiates. I recently started taking gabapentin during my kratom tolerance resets for the anxiety, rls, etc… not usually more then 1.2gs per day. Just trying to gauge if this is something i need to prepare for or just some uncomfortability

Might be ok for a day but your tolerance returns quick same with pregabs
Make it a once a week yhing
