Background:
I regularly take 800mg B.I.D. (twice a day) for (extremely) treatment resistant depression/anxiety/ptsd, along with the following (I know it's a lot):

120mg Cymbalta
300mg Lamictal
45mg Remeron
400mg Seroquel XR
50mg Seroquel as needed for anxiety (1-2 times per day avg.)
150mg Hydroxyzine as needed for anxiety (I never take it cause it doesn't do anything)

Also an inhaler as needed (rare) and 250/50 (fluticasone/salmeterol) Advair Diskus 2x per day for moderate Asthma

I also have prominent symptoms of depression that these meds help with, such as insomnia. I am not bipolar, although you might think so if you just read my med list. My anxiety is bad enough where I take most of this crap for it... avoiding benzos (at my urge)...

The experience:
I decided to try a high does just for shits and giggles, even though it's expensive and I take it every day. Not quite the smartest thing, but what can I say. This happened a few days ago. I was alone, music playing at all times except while outside smoking cigs for a bit, on the computer basically doing my thing.

12:30ish AM: ate some cereal and popped 2.4g (2400mg) of gabapentin
1:30ish AM: ate 2 more 800mg tabs, 1600mg, for a total of 4 grams (4000mg) ingested.
2:30 AM: ate 2 more. Starting to feel some effects, calming and a little drunk-like but not inhibiting. Smoking cigs was nice, I hardly smoke at all anymore. Some mild euphoria is noted.
3:30am: ate 2 more (this is 2 more than I was planning on) for a total of 7.2g

Feeling really good now, kind of like a threshold dose of a weak opiate (tramadol or something) with a low dose benzo (I've been addicted to both classes of drugs). I had a creative spark and wrote some music, first time in months. Ultimately, I'd say about 5:30am, I just completely crashed without much warning. I'd like to point out that I have really bad depression to the point that I know I'm a good songwriter, but never play guitar, or do much else for that matter. Anhedonia is one of my biggest symptoms, as it is for many, and this seemed to kill that temporarily. No other drug has done that in some time.

I'd say this was by far a "mental" high, some body heaviness was noted but it wasn't really pleasurable or dis-pleasurable. I can really imagine that this would be a great sleeping aid (for someone with no tolerance at low dose), I could have gone to sleep at any point really, and was quite relaxed. I spend 90% of my time close to a panic attack, so it was pretty damn nice.

Overall the experience was a good one, and I'm trying it out again as we speak, about to take my second round of pills.

In conclusion:
Certainly this was nothing special, but considering I had them around anyway and we're talking about an unscheduled drug, I give it two thumbs up. Definitely worth it, I don't think I wasted them and it greatly exceeded my (very low) expectations.

EDIT: It's been three hours since I started my second dosing regimen tonight, and I feel barely anything. Take that as you will. I will try this again in a month or so. Right now it seems like a waste.

^^^^ Huh? Gabapentin is actively transported, and those "transporters" are in limited supply and easily overwhelmed. Which is why it is well established that you get much more bang for your buck by staggering your doses, and giving your body the ability to absorb it all.

Remind me again what "hella experienced" means?

Been taking it for 6 years. And I know the pharmacology. But a large amount alll at once for your first dose is just...amazing. I just took 4.8 grams and I'm feeling wonderful.

I get way better results from taking it all at once, too. I've heard about staggered doses, but when I do that it just makes me feel weird.
