been seeing some ads for this http://www.jonesgaba.com/ on TV lately....

Im interested in what others think of this, I don't think GABA passes through the blood/brain barrier so this seems pretty bunk for a number of reasons 8o

it is complete bull,

it showsall the markers for wooly thinking lentil munching hippy shite.
thy claim
1, it is natural GABA
2, It criticises synthetic GABA
3, but then relies on data from the other bad synthetic GABA to claim efficacy.

this is an untested drug, being sold as a food. the FDA should crush these people.

I actually find GABA in doses of 5 grams or so to be extremely physioactive; mainly parathesia, but very similar symptoms to a panic attack, minus the panic :)

having tried gaba i find that 1.5grams produces this weird feeling of my skin crawlling and a salty saliva taste followed when the nasty(but easy to cope with) physical effects(very similar feelings to when you drink a lot of alcohol in a short time) pass about 15 minutes later by an hour to two of very relaxed muscles and general pleasant mood which is gone by another hour. very usefull in a coke binge if you need to sleep

Exactly what kind of doctor is Dr. Murray....

This beverage has existed for thousands of years its called alcohol.

Dr. Murray: Research from Japan has shown that PharmaGABA increases the production of alpha brain waves (a state often achieved by meditation and characterized by being relaxed with greater mental focus and alertness) as well as reduce the beta brain waves that are associated with nervousness, scattered thoughts, and hyperactivity.

Relaxation and immunity enhancement effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) administration in humans.

The effect of orally administrated gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) on relaxation and immunity during stress has been investigated in humans. Two studies were conducted. The first evaluated the effect of GABA intake by 13 subjects on their brain waves. Electroencephalograms (EEG) were obtained after 3 tests on each volunteer as follows: intake only water, GABA, or L-theanine. After 60 minutes of administration, GABA significantly increases alpha waves and decreases beta waves compared to water or L-theanine. These findings denote that GABA not only induces relaxation but also reduces anxiety. The second study was conducted to see the role of relaxant and anxiolytic effects of GABA intake on immunity in stressed volunteers. Eight acrophobic subjects were divided into 2 groups (placebo and GABA). All subjects were crossing a suspended bridge as a stressful stimulus. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) levels in their saliva were monitored during bridge crossing. Placebo group showed marked decrease of their IgA levels, while GABA group showed significantly higher levels. In conclusion, GABA could work effectively as a natural relaxant and its effects could be seen within 1 hour of its administration to induce relaxation and diminish anxiety. Moreover, GABA administration could enhance immunity under stress conditions.

I'm emailing Pharma-Foods International a link to the sperm thread that was just closed.

Go Seep go!

Yeah it sounds to me like a bunch of technical confoundery designed to confuse the gullible public. Sheesh.

Oh, and Dr. Murray is a Naturopath. So draw your own conclusions.

PharmaGABA or whatever must be a modified GABA so it has better bioavailability or something. The information on Jones' website is really vague and cryptic.

maybe they can come out with a 2nd product... JonesGHB! I laughed when I saw the ads. Make a product with a shinny chemical in it and have it endorsed by some doctor and people will buy it. Sad :\
