Mods - if this is shit idea shut her down.

Here's the idea - we start everyone with $1000 in monopoly money. Ill post the spread every Wed. ish. You can place up to 3 bets per week ( Im not going to tally up any more than that, too much work. if you get to zero, you are out. He who has most $$ after super bowl wins.

If we go forward , just respond with an 'in' - we'll give everyone until Wed. to sign up and Ill post the first spreads Wed. night. Will look just like below

You have untill first kick off to get your bets in. Ill post up balances on Tue. morning

no parlays or teasers etc. - just 3 straight bets per week, I dont have that much time

After we get ins - response is this simple

$200 on Giants money line +145
$50 on Saints -7
$150 on titans/cowboys over 42
 
I don't understand the lines. Explain a quick example.

What does the +145 mean on your giants bet?

Also, I'll place $1000 on the Colts and however many points they're giving this week.
 
If you bet 100 on Giants you win 145 - bet 200 you win 290

if it is a negative number IE - 110 you bet 100 you lose 110

so 100 is magic number

i don't really understand betting but this sounds fun. so i guess i have a week to learn.

To help people, look at the negative numbers this way - if the line is -110, you bet $110 to win $100. [Obviously you can't lose more than you bet.]

I'm interested, this actually sounds like a lot of fun. I'll place bets for next weeks games.

sounds like a fun game but I think you should explain line betting in more detail, for the beginners in this thread, so more people can participate
 
If a team is negative points, it means they are the 'favorites' and have to win by that many points. A team that is positive points(example, Denver +7) is the underdog and is 'given' that many points and as long as they don't lose by 7 points or more, they cover(win).

Take Baltimore(-7) vs Denver...the final score was 31-17...difference of 14 points....Baltimore covers(wins), Denver does not.

If you want to bet on a team straight up(no point spread) it's called taking the moneyline. The number listed is the multiplier....take a look at Baltimore -330.
A $100 bet on the Baltimore money line would pay a profit of $33 (100 X -3.30) With the multiplier, always add a decimal point after the first number. Here's another example..... a $500 bet on a team that is listed as +200 = profit earnings of $1000 (500 X 2.00)
 
Im game, need a little more detail on how to place bet/ how the system works.
 
I should add too if you bet on a game using the point spread you win the amount that you wager, although on betting sites there is usually a juice of +/- 105/115...guess that'll have to be up to WAAO.
 
damn, I been doing this forever and explained it like the moron I am

and juice is in the lines, so yes betting 110 will win you 100 ( in the real world juice is how bookies make their money )

looks like we have a handful so far so Ill get it started this week
