Admin, I've been lurking for a little while and active for a couple of months but it's clear you have a problem with bots all of a sudden.

typical behavior is for new users to churn up old posts with random shit responses that the general community engage with and in turn respond to.

the style of the posts is kinda similar in tone and english i.e. it's shite & meaningless BS that doesn't further the conversation, it's generally echo chamber crap and/or almost incoherent BS (like a non-english speaker)

I can't really tell what the objective is without doing some data analysis but there's an uptick in this noticeably in the last few weeks if you're dialed in and can spot the signs.

not sure what solutions you're using for auto mod/bot prevention but it's clear AI bots are invading the forum to the extent that they are talking to each other in some threads now this week.

sorry but I don't have any solutions, I work in a parallel industry and can see the signs but no answers/help for you.

just want to make sure you're aware more than anything, feel free to delete this thread if you're aware and don't want to give the game away....

only idea that springs to mind is to understand best practice anti AI/BOT prevention and then educate the users so they can report the bots and get the posts removed ASAP.

I can vouch for seeing some as well, though not overwhelmingly where I notice it every time I log in. It seems to be rather uncommon but still annoying

Im sure there are some that are ”posing” as bots or just trolling

These have been a problem for a really long time. There is no one solution, only to constantly train new staff to be on the lookout for suspiciously bumped threads from new users. When I was admin I called them link bots or edit bots. Their posts look innocent at first, for days or maybe weeks to throw you off their scent, then they come back to edit. We have spam detection tools but there's always some that get through and if you aren't constantly updating it , it can get out of control.

^ pretty much this.

the anti-spam measure we have in place catches a lot of the accounts at the registration phase so i think we're doing an ok job of mitigating the issue.

thanks for the message and the reports, op.
