Yeah, that happens. Seems to be more common with Opera, but I've had FF crash a few times after writing a big fat post.
My suggestion: if you're writing a tome, type it up in WordPad or some other barebones text editor, then paste it into the response window when you're ready to post. If you're good with vBB tags you can do them manually in the text editor, or put them in using buttons relatively quickly after you paste.
