Hi honey!!! Me smiling and waving at you. ; )
Been there done that, to everything you are going through.
Post fusions my pcp also suggested ssri's/snri/s instead of pain meds. I was beyond insulted. I flat out told him I'm in PAIN and that I don't have mental illness. So I didn't take any thankfully.
Really try hard to keep standing up for yourself. I find it a struggle myself, but I gave in a couple of times and went off my pain management voluntarily because I was sick of the stress and struggle and stigma I endured to even get my rx pain meds.
They also tried to refer me to the pain shrink. I said no. And yes, that is what they do. Then they tried to send me to some pain rehab clinic. I said no.
But I started damaging my liver with tylenol when I went off my pain meds, so I went back on. Now they will have to fight me to get me off now.
I have several herniated discs presently, one at your level that you just had fused, and several others in the cervical area.
I have had fusions.
I have degenerative disc disease.
Hang in there, I really do understand and care what happens to you, and to say I empathize with you would be a gross understatement.
I hope you can stay out of pain but if things get worse, I would say go the methadone route.
Much love and support and feel free to pm me anytime.
Hugs,
your friend,
Ash.
Hey buddy, I know you've been there from the beginning when I started this thread.
I'm about 2 months post op, and I'm doing a lot better than I was I would say 2 weeks post op, but still in a lot of pain. The rehab is about a year or possibly longer so I still have a long road ahead of me. I've been pretty open minded as far as what my doctors want me to do, but my pain management doctor wanted me to see a pain psychologist, and I just dont see the point of that. There going to try and convince me that the pain is in my head??? I looked up what the do and that basically is what they try to do.
I will keep you guys updated as my health progresses hopefully.
Btw, if you dont mind be asking what type of chronic pain are you currently dealing with? And how are you coping with it?
Thanks for all the support!
