Its been awhile since I really posted anything or started a tread, but here it is. I take norco 10/325mg 4 times a day and soma 2 times a day. I took my third dose of norco 4:30pm aprox with a soma. I'm tolerant to both and don't really get the euphoria from them any more, well not like I once did. I refuse to chase the dragon. But anyways, I cooked dinner and ate with my kiddies. Then I decided to eat 3 small oranges. They tasted really good. I'm stuffed now :) About 20 min later I felt like I just took some more medication. I felt really energetic and my mood was elevated. I started doing some light yard work watering the yard and such. I was like hold up. Did the oranges just give me energy from the B vitamins or did it have the same effect that grape fruit juice is said to have on opiates? Idk. What do y'all think? Has anybody else had this same experience?

This was most likely just your body responding to the vitamins/nutrients in the oranges. Opiates can lead to vitamin deficiencies (I forget which vits), so you might need more vitamins than the average person. Keep eating oranges, I guess.

^ this.

Grapefruit and grapefruit juice have the potential to interact with numerous drugs. A number of organic compounds, identified as furanocoumarin derivatives, interfere with the hepatic and intestinal enzyme cytochrome P450 isoform CYP3A4 and are therefore primarily responsible for the interaction. However, bioactive compounds in grapefruit juice may also interfere with P-glycoprotein and organic anion transporting polypeptides (OATPs) either increasing or decreasing bioavailability of a number of drugs. Pomelo (the Asian fruit which was crossed with an orange to produce grapefruit) also contains high amounts of furanocoumarin derivatives.

Oranges and Orange Juice do not contain the furanocoumarin derivatives such as bergamottin or dihidroxybergamottin that are found in Grapefruits and produce potentiation via the CYP450 pathways.

I just thought it was the craziest thing. It really felt like I double dosed or something. I know for a fact I did not. Some days, like today, I think I need a potentiater. My pain is not being managed very well. I might try some of the suggestions listed here. I did see the potentiater mega thread and it had some good ideas. Next month I'm going to a pain specialist, if I can get all the paper work done. Maybe they can treat my pain better. I just hope they don't expect me to take any antidepressants. I refuse to take those because of the side effects.

Yes pure grapefruit juice or the actual grapefruit do intensify the buzz but only for a very short time, making it so you have to keep drinking it almost nonstop to continue the desired effect

But I've never heard of orange juice enhancing a buzz except for psychedelics and extacy/molly, in which that does in fact work! I know first hand. And actually I'm drinking some pure oj right now on opiates and notice absolutely no difference. Now unless the oj u were drinking was enhanced with the vitamin that grapefruit has in it to enhance some medications, then that could be quite possible

Yup.......a glass of orange juice & LSD go hand in hand.

Try Tagamet (cimetidine), an OTC antacid that inhibits the same enzymes. I use it potentiate opiates and kratom all the time.

Why do you feel the need to potentiate kratom? It's almost as cheap as coffee. If I were you I would avoid doing this because taking Tagamet when you don't need it on a regular basis can mess up your stomach.
