Some cactus preparation instructions call for freezing the cactus to break the cell walls (water expands as it freezes and the cell walls cannot handle the turgor pressure) to increase access to the mescaline. Would freezing cannabis have the same effect?

freezing will most likely causes trichomes to break off of the plant material.

I did hear that somewhere... in the instructions for making thc oil... I can see how that might help, a bit... Although for smoking i don't think it would have anything but a negative effect.

Perhaps if it was frozen in a glass container and the cannabinoids were then dissolved into oil in the same container it would help.

well weed is dried anyways so the cell walls wouldn't break if you froze it

Weed is usually pretty dry but not completely dry. It still has moisture in it or else it would crumble to dust.

I have also heard that it is bad to keep your weed in the freezer but never knew if it was actually true.

And you don't need to break the cell walls. You're going to smoke all the material whether the cell walls are broken or not. I think this would only be mildly effective when doing extractions.

Freezing would be ok really only in the case where it is being kept for years untampered with. You do not want to freeze/thaw anymore than once. In the end, the fridge is the best spot for long term storage. But then again, I havn't noticed degradation when it has been kept in glass jars at room temperature.

i've met a few people who have kept their herb in the freezer. usually only large amounts though...i couldn't tell too much difference. it wasnt "super potent" or anything

btw SWIM had their house raided and the freezer is one of the first places the police will look, because they know many people stash their stash there.

ew, i'd think that'd degrade potency in the long run as other have mentioned.
