A few nights past as I lay down to rest.
I felt so alive, all my woes were addressed.
Cynical thoughts removed from my mind.
Something, somewhere, knew it was time.
Drifting to sleep with a star in my eye.
All burden was gone and I started to fly.
I jumped out from the bitter chill of the night.
Free floating, alive... guided by flight.
Remembering youthful trouble free days.
I soared through the sky peering down through the haze.
I looked at the world, it was beautiful and good.
My place in the puzzle, I then understood.
But as I awoke the very next day.
My travels were lost, gone far far away.
I’ve tried to go back to that place where I'm free.
I’ve tried to get back to that place inside me.
