how ridiculous. what a stupid remark to make

how about all the upcoming DJs, producers and artists who dont know anything about the American rave scene in the 80s.. why does that make them any less knowledgeable about a very very broad summary of genres?

apparently you dont know jack about the electronic music community, nor the music.

Who said about knowing Frankie Bones meant that they must know about Raves from the 80's? Sure he did help start them off but most likely if you call yourself a fan of electronic music, your most likely going to know who Frankie Bones is. Almost like Glenn Danzig from the Misfits is to Punk music (true diffrent genre but stay with me). He is a classic artist and is well know like Paul Oakenfold, PVD, Tiesto, AVB, etc.

I belive if your a fan of a certian genre, you should at least study the history behind it. You can like all the new DJ's and all the new music that comes out from the Electronic genre but knowing about the history just makes you more knowledgable to it. If you don't know about Frankie Bones and how he started the Rave scene in America in 80's thats fine. If you don't know Frankie Bones and never heard of him yet love electronic music then you should look into his stuff. The godfathers of a certian genre are always going to be the best no matter what the style was back then.

Not here to start an argument, just stating my beliefs and I am in titled to them.

frankie is a great guy and a killer dj. he send me records i could never find, and if i could, i wouldn't be able to afford them. he practically gives them to me. hell, about six months ago, he sent me about 60 titles (more than sixty records) for FREE.

peace

I love frankie havent seem him in years though, every since i left chicago and came to az its much more rare to see the old school djs.

Words can't express how thankful I am for Frankie. Without him, things would be much different, would they not?

^^ indeed. but adam x is of similar importance and still manages to be both musically relevant and not a total cunt at the same time :\

Frankie Bones is one of the first main DJs they interview in the documentary "Better Living Through Circuitry" ...and I will say I pretty much had never heard of him until I saw this movie... the closest thing to his DJ name I knew of was Frankie Knuckles who I think was more a late 70s/early 80s DJ in the days of black/gay/acid/house/underground parties - the first 'raves' (if you read any books on dance music history like "Adventures in Wonderland - A Decade of Club Culture" it will mention DJs like Knuckles)...

But he sounded pretty darn passionate about his music... saying how he eats, sleeps and breathes it and got into music from his father and his big record collection...

I still don't think I've ever heard Frankie Bones spin... I've only ever seen/heard of him on this documentary and that's about it... I'd say it's probably since he's more an American DJ and don't think he got much publicity over here in Australia...
