well i felt a little sick but i kept smokin with all my friends for the past 2 weeks. went to the doc today found out i have mono... probably 40 different people i smoked with sharing glass..i feel like im giving them the call that i have an STD and they should get tested... fuck this sucks i feel awful

A lot of people get exposed to it before reaching adulthood so there's a good chance you're not in the typhoid Mary league and that many of your friends already have antibodies to it. It's endemic in many Western nations.

It absolutely knocks the shit out of some people while others don't even know they've had it until antibodies show up in their blood during routine testing.

An addition to what Lolie said, insurance often doesn't pay for a mono test because a large portion of the population is already positive making a positive test not diagnostically significant.

Rough housing, wrestling, & contact sports are often prohibited for a period after acute mono because the spleen can be enlarged and could burst. Read your aftercare material from your Doc and follow it. Also your Doc will be able to give you sensible advice about contagiousness and if you really need to notify anybody. If you don't want to tell him about smoking tell him you played spin the bottle with a large group of people and kissed like 35 people that night.

That sucks, but I wouldn't worry about it. Tons of people share glasses and stuff. I just got sick recently and so did like five of my boyfriend's friends ... we all shared glasses at a party. My boyfriend was lucky, but the rest of us were not quite as lucky! lol
Some people will probably get it and some won't. But how were you to know? Besides, germs are shared all the time. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

One thing to consider is that meningococcal disease is transmitted by similar means to EBV - and while it's much rarer, it can be deadly. Depending on your age, your peers may not be vaccinated against it so there are more serious dangers to sharing than you may have considered.
