I have taken Oxy(contin) by:
1) swallowing whole
2)crushing up then snorting &
3)chewing and swallowing (also kills the time release)
I have read all the various Oxy posts and it seems that the consensus as to the best/most effective way to take Oxy is to snort it or chew it. Obviously both of these techniques kills any time release functionality of the opiate. I was wondering what is the point of doing this. I know it hits you faster (and harder) when you do this, but definelty shortens the duration of the high. Any info would be helpful as to why not just swallow the Oxy whole and enjoy the time relase function as it was intended?

If you swallow it whole (uncrushed), you're not going to enjoy anything. Crushing the powder and snorting is the only way to go.
If you swallow the crushed powder, you will feel the effects in about an hour, the same effects that you would be feeling an hour after snorting.
The difference is, when you snort something, you get it all in your blood very quicky and you get a nice rush. 5-10 minutes after snorting you get that euphoria that you don't get any of while swallowing.

Haze is right....JUST SNORT..>PERIOD>
Oxy is much to expensive to waste the drug by ingesting it any other way.

It's covered in the FAQ, but you need to break the time-release as the only way to get a good high is to get hit with all the dope at once..
