...but enjoy smoking marijuana...or even if you dont smoke mj, but just don't indulge in alcohol...

how do you feel when you are around others who consume alcohol heavily?

Since moving out to nor cal, im noticing the consumption shift towards alcohol of the social enviornment. I really don't like alcohol...i rarely indulge, and if i do its a very small amount. I like to smoke weed, but again, the amount of my consumption remains low. I love the high, but i dont like to cross the line. When hanging around people who choose alcohol, I feel very out of place. I try to see their level but to me it is very difficult to relate, and i tend to end up limiting the time i spend with alcohol drinkers.

it just gets my brain going you know...people look down on those of us who enjoy being high as stoners, potheads, hippies, lazy, etc etc...

When I look at alcohol drinkers, and alcoholics i see lazy, stupid, agressive, mean, liars, lack of control...etc, etc.

i dont know...when im high, i am more productive than anything...i do things...get shit done...walk, run, snowboard, write, draw, create music, dance, think, focus, get aroused, not smoke cigs, organize, clean, talk, socialize, sleep well, drink water...etc, etc...

drunks...what do they do...get lazy, lose control, drive, swerve, fight, bicker, cry, argue, cause trouble, lie, lay, sleep, smoke cigarettes, fall, kill people, stumble, crash, talk shit, binge, get hungover, get fat...etc, etc...

why is marijuana illegal again?

why isn't alcohol illegal?

what makes me such a "bad person for choosing (illegal) marijuana over (legal) alcohol?

im going to end here...but i am not really done yet...

I said this today while watching a thing on drunk drivers, I said why isn't alcohol illegal just like pot. It's worse for you in my opnion, more people die from it and related incidents, and it makes people just that much dumber in their actions. I've never seen anyone become a complete moron from smoking weed, but some people become the biggest idiots when their drunk. It doesn't bother me when my friends drink around me, except when they get stupid. Well whatever though it's legal, and nothing I can do will change that. Nad the same with pot it's illegal, and I can't change that either. I smoke, and don't drink, but I'm not a bad person. In the eyes of soceity though I am.
 
I used to drink alot........and most of my friends are older than me, so I'm around drinking like all of the time....whether im at a party with friends, sitting around someones house, or what it goe sona lot......

I REALLY don't like drinking, at all, and woul dbe more than satisfied to find a girl that didn't like drinking either........ IN complete honesty, I have a beer every now and then but I don't get drunk or drink liquor, it's disgusting to me, personally......


Drunk girls are the biggest turn off in the entire world......next to white girls with corn rows who speak in ebonics, blehhhhhck..... Someone goes to kiss you and smells like alchohol, gross.

It doesn't bother me a horrible deal when I'm just around it, because most of my friends don't act like jack asses when they drink and can still socialize and not get horribly loud and redundant, but I don't like it or anything.....

I do smoke marijuana, so I know alot of that sounds hypocritical.......I dunno, I've never done something i've later regretted while being high on pot, I have, several times, while being drunk...... So i mean all in all for me personally, i think marijuana is alot easier on my brain and doesn't mess me up that bad in general......a mellow relaxing high, is really cool....


Moderation is the key i suppose, heh.
 
nephil i think youve hit it on the nose with this one. This is exactly what i think too. Drinking makes me uncoordnated, uncontrolled, reckless, and just plain old stupid. Weed makes me mellow and relaxed. I usualy just read stuff on the net, play video games, or watch tv when im high. When im drunk ill usualy be out doing things, saying im not too drunk to drive, and really just not being smart in any decision.

I tend to see WAY more regretted decisions from alcohol use then pot. (people sleeping around, beer sluts and such hah...you know who you are!)

It doesnt make sense, its less intoxicating then alcohol.
Oh mabye b/c its so dangerous b/c smoke is sooo horrible.

oh ya it makes sense pot should be illegal, im a dumbass...lol

But even if they wanna keep pot illegal i say lets be equal here and make ciggs and alcohol illegal too. Im sick of being looked down upon for something that is less harmful than something that is socialy acceptiable.
 
perfect example...

my roommates drink all the time. today...its 3:30am...they have been drinking hard core for 12 hours straight...they are making so much fu#$@$ noise i cannot sleep...i have to get up at 7am...i walk out, the entire house reeks of alcohol...it STINKS BAD...I ask them to please be a tad more quiet...they get louder...WTF???

alcohol to me is the devil....if there is one thing in this world that i actually look down upon its drinkers...yep...i am discriminitory i guess...so be it
 
Just like you, i don't drink alcohol but do smoke ganja (or, if the oppurtunity is there, i take it in orally, which just totally rocks :) ), altough not very often (weekends)

When im sober (completely, i don't drink at all) and im around drunks:
I really don't care when they are my good friends. They can be cool when they are drunk too. And they know i don't drink. They are not the kind of assholes you describe (really drunk people are not always assholes)
However, I was at some party sober and it really was this "students" kind of party, and all they care about really is beer and porn, omg, these guys are total losers, its really pathetic, they totally crash up a house, just like you described nephil. It was not my house, so I did not care much. Then they ask why i don't drink, i explain (i just smoke weed, i say), and they is all like, "ow, uhhm, uhuh". Some try to make fun of me but I always make a fool out of their drunk asses.

When im high and im around drunks (which are not my good friends):
I seek some activity (like dancing, if possible) to do. I go outside for a walk. Sometimes when im high im all like FUCK IT ALL! And i can really not care about drunks, im just totally above them (or so i feel). Sometimes i can get irritated tough.


When im high around people who are high doesnt need any argument :D

A while ago, I and a good friend (who i smoke a lot of ganja with) smoked ganja with a guy who usually doenst do it. We had a great time.
This guy was all like: Wow man, that was the best time i've had in years etc. etc., he agreed being plain drunk can suck and is totally stupid compared to being high with some people.

I guess the whole problem is alcohol is socially more accepted
 
I just don't get alcohol . I hate it and i really feel out of my element when i am around people who are putting back more then a few drinks. Especially if it is a situation where i can't smoke at all.

Of all the drugs i have done i have never felt more drugged and unclearheaded then when i have drank. I honestly feel that pot was put here for us and meant for our bodies and minds and that alcohol is just plain evil.

kinda like those people who cant stand the taste of beer,

i just ignored em cuz they were mostly kiddies who hadn't had time to acquire the taste of booze

but see thats the difference...i enjoy weed...not to get fucked up but to have that perfect level of cohesion and detachment.

people drink alcohol simply to get fucked up.

how many times do you hear people say...thats a good drink!

they arent referring to flavor there...they are refferring to it's strength.

People drink because it makes them a different person....legally

people drink so that they can do things out of their element...and have an excuse for going too far.

people drink and drive because they are fucked up and lost their sense of inhibition...not to mention their common sense...

hahaha in the public eye (and professional eye) it is soooooo bad if someone gets charged with a dui...that person is a criminal!

however, it's not looked down upon for the average person (and professionals) to drink and drive...as long as they dont get caught they are not a criminal.

i just dont get it!
 
i've always disliked alchohol. it tastes gross, i have a ridiculously high tolerance, and i'm an annoying drunk. i wasnt a big fan of pot, until recently, and even now i usually only do it to help sleep/ when i'm coming down off other substances

i've always felt out of place because of this, because i'm a bartender, and its just assumed after my shift i'll stick around to have a few drinks with the other bartenders. even before, during highschool, alchohol was the obligitory drug of choice. there were kids that wouldnt touch pot, thought heroin was satanic, but would gladly get drunk near to the point of poisioning every weekend.

and now, going into college, living in a college town filled with nothing but bars, is just one more annoyance.

for a long time, i'd just refuse drinks, but that left me the perpetual designated driver, and i never could get the smell of puke and sweat out of the upholstry

so now (and i realize how wrong and unsafe it might seem) when theres a night when everyone just HAS to go to the bar and get wasted for the third time this week, i quietly order a virgin-whatever and secretly dose on whatever i've chosen that night. we all split a cab home and i dont feel like an outcast.

i don't agree with you.

sure i get wasted drunk once in a while but i drink many drinks because i like the taste - especially gin and tonic and beer (not together :) )

i think it's a mistake to generalise. i know plenty of people who drink socially and 'behave' themselves. i have seen people do stupid shit while stoned...

werd nephil.. i don't drink at all and dislike being around drunk people a lot. I have a hard time going out to dnb clubs cause everybody drinks and it's sketch to blaze


I smoke pot like a mofo though. wtf pot should be legal to smoke anywhere you can smoke cigs. It doesnt cause brain damage, You won't die from pot withdrawls. It doenst cause you to pick fights.. it can't be used as a date rape drug. You can't say that about alcohol :\
 
Yeah I don't really like alcohol. I'll drink a few beers everyone once in a while, but I'd much prefer to have a reefersmoke.

I disagree that drinkers are the ones guilty of, uhh, drinking, to get fucked up. I smoke pot with the intention of getting fucked up maybe half of the time I smoke. I also eat shrooms, E, etc with the same intention. I just happen to like being "fucked up" on what I would consider a higher level.

Why is weed illegal? Ask the same criminals against humanity that made mushrooms and peyote illegal.

How stupid it is to criminalize a living thing that has been on this earth longer than we have.
 
Yes, I am the same. All my friends are getting drunk, I have a fake ID and am buying them the damn alcohol, yet I hardly ever get drunk (maybe every month). I don't know what it is, maybe the fact of being stuck in one place, having to pass out somewhere and wake up with that shitty post-drunkedness feeling, and it being the only drug that a cop can walk up and PROVE on I'm on...They say weed's only use is to get high, what use does alcohol have? All everyone does it drink to get drunk or atleast a small buzz, with the exception of people who drink like a glass of wine or a mixed drink at dinner, etc. I dont always get stoned when I smoke, although I do get high each time. After smoking awhile, being completely blitzed gets old. I see tons of people who've drank forever continually getting drunk and always getting a larger amount of alcohol to get them there. It's no different watching someone drunk than coked out or nodded off in my eyes...
 
I don't really enjoy marijuana or alcohol too much, but do get a urge and do them both every once in a while. However, I love being around people who are under the influence of both(with exception of mean drunks.) It makes me laugh, I think most peoples sense of humor is a lot better under the influence.
 
People who drink but 'diss' weed (for reasons other than 'i dont like to smoke anything'), calling us potheads like it's a bad thing, I only blame them for being naive.

I guess, as Bluedolphin said, I blame the 'criminals against humanity' for the way american society's laws work my life. (nicely put btw) I just wonder why, and what the FUCK I can do to promote my cause in the future.

In the great pantheon of drug use, I place drunks right between the glue-sniffers and the crackheads in respectability. Why is alchol legal when most other things aren't? Because white middle-class Christians drink, as opposed to the dirty chinese with their opium, the crazy mexicans with their marijuana, the damn Hippies with their LSD, etc. Drugs are illegal because white christians associated them with 'socially undesirable' groups. (It's been argued that the US only passed alcohol prohibition because the Protestants saw it as a way to morally condemn the hard-drinking Catholics.)

In other words, racists and bigots created prohibition.

I think the US needs a 'coming out' day for drug users. One day a year where we could throw a little parade, knock on the neighbor's door and say 'Hi, I sometimes use illegal drugs, and I work hard, pay my taxes, and have never once sacrificed a cat to Satan. We are normal, responsible, productive people just like you.'
 
i think it's especially cool to see all the people who don't like alcohol, when it's such a huge deal here. more people will take a first drink than a first smoke(weed) or first try at another drug.

it's weird, i was never into drugs at all. i liked to drink some, but i felt uncomfortable being that vulnerable at parties, so i didn't ever drink to get drunk. in college it changed, but then so did my party choices. i started smoking pot, then got into some other mild drugs, and the drinking began to wither. after being into ecstacy for so long, and seeing drunks mixing with ravers, it completely changed my outlook on alcohol. not to mention that it tastes awful (i've NEVER liked beer :p ), and it takes too long to get fucked up. a hit off the joint or bong and i feel it within 10 minutes.

plus, i just love smoking, love the taste of weed, love the social aspect of smoking weed with friends, and just about every "pro" that each of you have named as well.
