One of the artificial sweeteners (typically in chewing gum) has a laxative effect if taken in "high" doses, so I wouldn't doubt it to cause gas/bloating in "lower" doses.
See I'm BIG on my chewing gum, as in literally always got a piece in my mouth. Love it. Usually get this sugar/sweetener-free natural stuff, but I used to use Wrigley's, until I realised there was aspartame in it.
