Following Drug Bans (2C-X)

Honestly, as long they leave the tryps alone I can live with this, and let it be a lesson to us all... don't waste such a good thing by being frivolous, trying to make money with it, showing it to your friends, whatever, stuff that everyone has done to raise awareness of these chemicals.

This is obviously the direct reason for the ban. But damn, please leave the tryps alone, they haven't hurt anyone and can be such amazing tools

the UK's "catch all" clause which effectively made all the PiHKAL/TiHKAL tryptamines and PEA's illegal in 1971. There are some exceptions such as aMT and 5-MeO-DALT.

yes why was aMT left exempt ?? i know that 5-MEO-DALT was discovered *after* TiHKAL was released; so it flew under the radar somewhat. but aMT was definitely in TiHKAL and has been around for a while... ?

just think about how many shipments get stopped at customs. they see a large bag of white powder and think it's coke. they tell they're supervisor and then they get it tested and find out that it's not coke but some form of cathinone or tryptamine.

actually i was watching a programme about customs; what they do is use dogs to sniff packages, and *then* break them open to reveal bucket loads of cocaine. but these dogs aren't trained to smell these new chemicals, so i'd assume that small quantities of novel psychedelics just pass by

So I hear this unfortunate death may not even have been caused by 2ce?

I think that means the media should "take it back".

There is no way all 11 people who took the "2ci/2ce" (no one even knows for sure) got sick if it was real. Unless these were 100mg doses, and even so, it prolly wouldnt have killed anyone. I've seen reports of way higher doses on here IV...

I heard some talk of MDPV but potency-wise, how does that make sense? I'd love to interview the kid who got arrested for giving out the drugs. I would love to know the truth.

Lamere arrived at a spring break party in Blaine and began offering "2C-I" to the guests, saying it was a hallucinogen. He poured out the grayish powder on a living room table, cut a few lines, and snorted one. Robinson-Davis did a line after Lamere. At least 10 other guests took the drug as well.

It didn't take long for the effects to hit Robinson-Davis. According to his friends, he started punching the walls, yelling, and smashing things, and his eyes dilated. Soon after, he couldn't breathe.

^These are not "typical effects" even from a bad 2c-e trip. And a single "line" would cause such an overdose?

For at least a little while they will still all be available. Research chemical suppliers aren't that far off from illicit drug dealers in the first place, they'll just keep shipping it. That's how 5-meo-dmt went. as less and less people are willing to ship it, and less and less demand exists, the real question is what will happen to the lesser known 2c's. I can bet we'll always be able to get 2C-E, its nearly as popular as 2C-B, which is still around. With 2C-I and 2C-B on the same level, I see no need for people to do 2C-I anymore but maybe so many people have grown up on 2C-I now that it will have its fans. 2C-C and 2C-D seem like goners. There are a few 2C-D fans out there but not enough to really have a market going on, same goes for 2C-C but probably even less. 2C-P has kind of had a recent following, but I really don't see it sticking around.

2C-B reigns supreme for the halogenated group, 2C-E for the alkylated. Those two will have the best availability, and since they will all be illegal, perhaps the only (reasonably wide) availability. Also, I'm sure new stuff will pop up. The NBOMe's probably have another couple of years at least of grey market super-stardom.

I've had some good times with 2Cs and I hate to see any drug get banned, but really....if you buy a gram of whatever your 2C of choice is, I promise you'll never want to do it again before you finish that gram (unless you're a superfiend).

And besides the fact that 2C-T-7 has been schedule I in the US for nearly a decade, I am still to this day able to cheaply order it to the US from reputable vendors (not that I would commit such a heinous crime). Same with AMT.

So yeah, the worthwhile 2Cs will stick around for sure. 2C-E is a classic and will stay. 2C-I can go away for all I care. 2C-C and 2C-D might disappear unfortunately, but it's not a grievous loss.

The more popular 2cs that are on the ban list will still be available but probably not in near the same quantity or quality and pricing that is currently available. Needlessly to say; however, there will be many more derivatives and absolutely new chemicals that haven't even begun to be synthesized yet appearing in their places.

noooo, i looove 2cd (and it goes nicely with 2cc as well.. argh)!
that being said, im not so sure about nbomes being the future. they are jsut too potent for their own good, and given the easy availability and difficult dosing, it will be really soon that they too will join such a ban.
think about it. if people are having trouble dosing 2ce, active in the mgs, what will happen with a chemical 10x more potent?

how likely is it to pass in the first place? a secondary question.

If they get to it during this session, it'll pass. The chances of that are anyone's guess.

There have been bills like this which have died due to recess or adjournment before, but usually at the state level. This is one of those times when Congress's total inability to ever get anything done actually works for us.

The main reason they might not get to it is that the American public just plain doesn't know or care about any of this, and none of the people who can buy laws have a stake in the game anyway.

Other bad news is that 2C-* is a lot harder to synthesize than MDMA. They're not likely to show up on the black market unless it's ultimately sourced from a vendor. The tryptamines are easier, but less popular.

Well Europeans people won't get concerned for the ban (if someday it will be ban) cause they are lot of Europeans 2C-X shops and they are totally legal in most of the europeans countries. So the bill for the US will not pass in Europe right ?! Bad for US people if 2C-X will be ban, you will need to buy from EU vendors. I'm sure vendors will still sell 2C-X anyway, I mean come on. 2C-I or AMT are for example illegal but they still selling it and it's wildely accessible.

!!!! Anyone else notice the poll on the right hand side that asks if you are for or against the bill and you can send an email to your state representatives urging them to vote with you? All state side folks, please do this. It takes about a min to send the email and register on the govtrack website.

EDIT: actually here is the link to vote and email your senators.

so if they make it to the end of the 2011 session without voting on it the bill is dead? As in someone would have to reintroduce it again next year and start the whole process over? Or it will still be there next year's session?

So i've been following this for a long time and it seems to be happening. House voted.

They also added some "substitution rules", UK style.

So, we're gonna go ahead and further prohibition are we? Because that always works out well...
Walking backwards is a good step forward. And marijuana is STILL not even medically legal in my state.
Thanks, psychedelic movement, for not protecting shit (I posted this on rick doblin's facebook, Maps, anyone who could take a stand, most were not even aware of the remaining 2c-x chems being legal). The "movement" is actually what created this problem. I've walked into many clubs and saw people railing t2 and i quote "Not being able to see past the visuals". And smoking dmt and dancing to shpongle (impossible?). But I digress.

But for the record, Doblin is a really nice guy. I just guess that its not his place? But then who will defend this EVER in the future? These particular 2c's (that and MDAI are the only chems I care about on these lists, though everyone should be able to take what they like... and I just HOPE they'll leave the 4-subs alone. Those are my holy grail) are as close to dopamine as mescaline is, and analogs will and have come out, further deviating from dopamine, and becoming more and more toxic. With every ban, more toxic chemicals will come out of china. Unless SOPA just blocks these sites from the US entirely.

Sigh. Sad Fractal 8( <3 = broken

LASTLY FUCK YOU AMY KLOBUCHAR! Same woman who is trying to pass sopa, and limit every freedom in the book. And she's a likely presidential candidate! Wow. PS taking away the internet is taking away the last scrap of freedom we have in this country. The ability to use free speech, and get around these roadblocks is something the govt doesn't like. They can ban all the chems they want and it wont make a difference, but if they start taking sites down or blocking them (making encryption the only way to go IF THAT)... Im just glad the same geniuses that created such a wonderful world (the internet) are not giving up.

Actually, they incorporated it into a different bill. S. 839 is abandoned but the 2cs carried over into the link at the top
H.R. 1254....along with all other mentioned substances. Just please, after this, STOP trying to ban shit. Its not making a positive difference, and you are making it so people will still buy these drugs, in less pure and healthy forms. Basically "Teach kids to not do drugs, even if it poisons them, good, if they get arrested for it, even better". Nothing fun is okay anymore. We've got surveillance and security up the ass. This has got to stop before the nation fucking collapses. This internet, drug, and even possible martial law stuff is all fitting together very nicely.

And OWS has nothing to say about this or even medical marijuana. Or Sopa for that matter. Just a thought.

Added some noparse tags to get rid of the smilies. You're welcome.

NOT TO MENTION THAT THESE BILLS, ESPECIALLY SOPA, HAVE NO PUBLIC APPROVAL!

Congress is deciding on their own, this is not a democracy.

Hmm this thread has been roaming around here for a while but how is this not American drug discussion? Please someone, anyone, enlighten me why I should not move this? I am willing to leave the redirect for a very long while though but unlike the thread it can't be bumped.

I would personally come to PD to talk about psychedelics in any way other than "What acid is good?" I see your point though.

Seems okay to make an exception for this, it's obvious that this is a big deal for you guys overseas. Just like the 2C-E tragedies: even though they were in the U.S. it affects us as a community. I could have realized this a bit earlier but the point is that this is not to be a precedent. Carry on, also I hope this legislation does not carry over to soft European countries like mine that are sensitive to pressure of U.S. policy.
