Flexeril as a potentiator

I recently came across some cyclobenzaprine for my back... How good is it as a potentiator of codeine? I've heard some say that it's great for that (but only with codeine) while others say benadryl is just as effective. Any truth to it?

I was also planning on taking 30 mg with 180 codeine and 7.5-15 mg of oxycodone, does that sound about right? I'm wary of tricyclics.

I hate how flexeril makes me feel & will never take it ahain. As for expontiating, it will definitely work if you wanna be in zombie land.

flexeril is a very nice, cheap date.

it will slightly potentiate benzos or hypnotics or opiates, and with no tolerance can knock you out. typically if you get knocked out by flexeril you will wake up with this super drowsy hangover. feels like diphenhydramine to a degree.

after awhile, flexerils are little nice-to-haves.

and if you happen to actually have spasms, they definitely work to relieve like post-surgical muscle spasms.

i like to keep some handy, but its not something i'll take a serious risk to obtain.

Both diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) have antihistamine properties (H1 receptor) which is why their after-effects feel similar, among other reasons.

Cyclobenzaprine does work well at potentiating opiates, including codeine, in my experience. I've used it quite extensively to help out a hydrocodone nod, and that it does. I consider it to be around the same potency as the sedating antihistamines (such as diphenhydramine!).

Long story short, it does work as a potentator, but there is risk of a drowsy hangover-like feeling the next day. If that doesn't bother you, then go for it.

i didnt think flexeril was a tricyclic? its just a skeletal muscle relaxer, isnt it? anyways, 30mg is a LOT IIRC, i havent taken flexeril in a long time since i dont like it, but 10 mg would put me to sleep i think, 5mg was even too sedating for me, i could hard walk. ive never used it with opiates, im sure itll make you nod hard as fuck though. on its own though, theres nothing desirable other than the pain relief and sedation, no euphoria to speak of. however, ive never gotten euphoria from muscle relaxers. (never tried soma though, ive heard good things)

You should NOT be taking 30mg of flexeril...they come in 5mg and 10mg pills only for a reason. I hurt my back a few months ago and still have loads of them, and they are incredibly effective for muscle spasm relief. And yes, IME it did potentiate opiates for me. Any doctor who has treated my back problem will usually give me flexeril along with an opiate. It doesn't give me that hang-over type of feeling the next day, but that could be after using it on and off for a couple years now.

Basically, flexeril will just enhance CNS depression effects that other drugs (like opiates, alcohol, benzos, etc) can have. On it's own, it's not a recreational substance, IMO.
