I preffer rolling my own tobacco joints, the real smooth tobacco (pipe tobacco) like Capitan Black (the 50g pouches), Rum, Whiskey, Vanilla, Cherry flavor. I can tell you these kinds of tobacco are much smoother than cigarette tobacco, plus it is smoked without a filter and still very smooth. This type of tobacco is also more moist than regular tobacco but not to the point of shisha (hooka tobacco) so it burns just a bit slower than cigarette tobacco. Also the quantity needed to roll 1 joint of the flavored tobacco cannot be more than 0.4g-0.5g (max), and while I do not know how much tobacco is generally placed in a cigarette I can only estimate it to be about 2x (.8g)-2.4x (1g-1.2g) more than the amount needed for a joint.

Can anybody please advise on where I can find information regarding this issue? Does flavored tobacco cause more health hazards/problems than would regular cigarettes?

Many thanks!

p.s. I am also familiar with Capitan Black cigarillors/cigars with the tip on the end for example...or CherryStone (sp?) (stoned!) which are the same thing but different taste/company. Those are strong (to me) compared to what I am talking about...I am talking about rolling your own joints/cigarettes from flavored pipe tobacco pouches/bags...they can come in 50g bags like Capitan Black (theres white, golden, blue & black variety of 50g pouches) or for example I got Smoker's Pride pipe tobacco Rum Cured 12ozs

The only difference between pipe and cigarette tobacco is the fact that pipe tobacco is cut much more coarsely, as opposed to the finer cut of cigarette tobacco.

I've rolled with pipe tobacco before, it's just more moist and a little harder to roll. Cut it up yourself if you like, and ta-da you have cigarette tobacco.

They carry the exact same health risks.

We bought a Top brand hand crank rolling machine (tube injector) and started rolling our own a couple of years ago. We use the mild pipe tobacco and the 100's light filter tubes. My wife is the one doing the rolling because she gets them more uniformed than my son or I do. It's also left up to her to buy/use whatever brand, so I'm not up on the brands she buys. I seem to recall that Captain Black is one of them she uses a lot. We have never tried any of the flavored tobaccos.

With the health issues, I read years ago, and I think also by my doctor, that smoking menthol is worse because the menthol helps the tar stick to your lungs, etc…in other words; It acts kinda like a glue. I don’t know, but maybe any flavorings could very well do the same.

Another health plus, if you can call it that, in rolling our own using mild tobacco and the light tubes, it makes for a much lighter cigarette than I’ve found on the market. As it is now, I like them more than the Marlboro ultra light 100’s I used to smoke before rolling.

The main reason we started rolling was the cost. Pipe tobacco doesn’t have the tobacco tax like cigarettes. (It’s just a matter of time before it is because more and more people are doing it!) Even if bought on a web site with S/H, a carton will only cost right around $13.oo. I think the last carton we bought it cost something like $45.oo here in Florida, USA.

theyre both still regular tobacco and carry the same health issues. ive tried gawith hoggarth vanilla fine cut and found it to be very smooth and much nicer than the average tobacco

Thanks everybody!

My reasoning was that it may be more harmful due to the additives in the tobacco that give it the flavored aroma, similar to what was said in the post on this thread about menthol cigarettes.

p.s. Does anyones know what is meant by Cavendish? I got some Vanillia Cavendish and also some Cherry Cavendish (both are exceptional). :)

Pipe tobacco for cigarette cartridges?? I thought there was a rolling tobacco.
Burning anything steak, poptart, tobacco releases carcinogens into your body.
Do some research into them E-cigs they are more reliable now than in the past.

Regulator1,

Your right, there is tobacco that's packaged and labeled as cigarette tobacco that's sold for the tubes. It's cut somewhat different that’s supposed to make injecting in the tubes easier...but the pipe tobacco seems to work just fine.

The reason on using the pipe tobacco, it doesn't have the "HIGH CIGARETTE TAX" like what’s packaged and sold for cigarettes. If I were to use it, there would not be enough money saved to make it really much worthwhile. (I seem to recall my wife saying; 1/2 lb. of the cigarette cut costs more than what 2 lbs. of the pipe cut costs...so it's like getting more than 1 1/2 pounds for free. BTW, pipe cut + tubes + S&H = about $1.30 per pack. I can check with her to make 100% sure?) We find the mild pipe tobacco is smoother and liter than say a Marlboro lite, or maybe even an ultra-lite is. We also use the lite tubes in the 100mm length.
