Ultra was off the hook this year! I didn't get to meet up with anyone though b/c my cell phone wouldn't work.

They made usw leave the digital camera at the door w/the security guard. Said to come back and get it when we want to leave, yeah right. Just as I guessed security jacked my camera and about 5 garbage bags filled. I didn't let it ruin my time though.

PRODIGY WAS FUCKING AWSOME!! My friend were mad because none of them were rolling and it was their first time...how the fuck does a first timer take 3 rolls and not feel shit? On the other hand i was feeling happier than a fat kid at mcdonalds...

Oh yea, did anyone go to the after party? I think it was better than last years...especially since AAA was right next door

Yesterday was my first Ultra Festial, and I have to say it was pretty crazy. I have never seen so many people at one event. When the sun went down I almost felt like I was at some type of circus, with all the different lights, and people. It was definently a nice experience. I had trouble seeing everyone I wanted to. I did get to see Danny Tenglia though in the house tent- AWESOME SHOWING. That guy can rock a crowd out!!!!

I usually refer to Ultra as a "crackhead carnival" ... Anyway.. Good times.. hella sunburnt.. dammit. Infected Mushroom was sick.. Prodigy was kinda lame at first but definitely pulled it off at the end.. Great showing.. Too bad they weren't recorded for the ultra dvd.. speaking of that I haven't had a chance to watch the ultra 7 dvd yet.

Infected Mushroom was sick over there. I was having the time of my life but had to leave before prodigy came on because I got hyponatremia and puked everywhere. You live and you learn.

Some jackass puked all over the place in the Breaks 2 Tent and it ended up on the back of my girl's leg and on my new shoes. They're lucky security escorted them out before I introduced my fist to their face. People can't handle their shit.

I ended up chillin for a half hour in the grass. We heard a pretty good set coming from the UMF Collective tent. I am not a fan of house at all, but one of the best sets of the night came from Tony Estrada. That man threw down, I didn't understand why there wasn't more people chillin there. Eric Beretta and Trevor Rockwell threw down as well. I also got a really good demo CD from those guys. Kevens was decent, not too many people there either but I got a good laugh when he busted out with his Leglaize it song about Mary Jane. There were a few cops standing there and the looks on their face was priceless.

I chilled mostly at the Breaks tent and the porto potty.. hahaha

Baby Anne, is it me or does she have the worst performances? She gets up tosses a record on, let's it play for a minute. She then goes back and talks to her friend's or bullshits until it's time to change the record.

DJ Craze - Was looking forward to his set and he disappointed me with some early 1990's booty music.

Dynamix II - I always enjoy their music, even if it's old stuff.

Food - I spent way too much money on bad food. Drinks were real expensive but that was expected. I found cheap parking that was pretty close to the venue. This new venue was pretty good as well.

This was one of the best Ultra's I've been to. Maybe because my GF and I hadn't seen each other in 3 months and the time we spent together was amazing. She told me it was probably the most fun we ever had in 5 years of being together. :)

this was my first Ultra.

got there and walked into the Carl Cox & Friends tent.
first DJ to see... Danny Howells.
completely sober, not even a sip of beer and goosebumps were all over.
incredible set he played.

after that i walked around to get my bearings.

saw Kevens play. they are always a treat.
saw a tiny bit of Infected Mushroom.
saw all of GreyArea's set... never disappoints.
saw all of Burufunk's set, that was fun.

saw The Killers up to Mr. Brightside, then walked to position myself for The Prodigy's set.
couldn't even get close enough to see The Prodigy on stage.
i stayed for three songs, got tired of people trying to push their way through when there was nowhere to go... so i left.

i decided to catch Junkie XL and boy was I glad I did.
despite the fact he was clipping the speakers, he was was great.
the rest of the night i stayed at that stage.

saw Sander Kleinenberg after Junkie XL. the crowd went nutz when Sander threw in Underworld's "Cowgirl." had a lot of fun there.

next, and to close UMF8 out for me was, Infusion.
I already loved Infusion to begin. i had never seen them live, so i was geared up.
quite a highlight for me.
in-fuckin-sane. i love them even more.

i didn't plan on going to the Carry On party, but a buddy of mine was able to get us in for free. a special someone he knows was playing there and he offered to get us on his guest list.

soooo... Carry On... my thoughts...

i loved it. it wasn't overcrowed and there was plenty of seating to rest.

i caught the last 45 mins of Sandra Collins' set. she was fun.

mainly went to see RITM's set. it was a first for me. i've been trying, since '99, to see RITM, but something always came up and screwed up my plans.
incredible show.

after RITM, stay for about 45 mins of Danny T's set.

so that's my UMF trip in a nutshell.

minimal madness

can you say loco dice / hawtin / luciano tagging for like 6 hours straight one record at a time on sunday????omg... sick i tell ya! the entire sunday school for d. was pure madness. between that and several other parties, i slept for one hour in between a 37 hour span of nonstop dancing.
i'll post some more comments, pics and purhaps some of our video once the cloud clears from my head and i finish all this school work i have to now make up.

screw ultra

HOLY CRAP
Sunday School for the Degenerates was THE party of the conference. QUALITY beats with room to dance, but still a crapload of super cool people who KNEW the music and weren't just on spring break.
Molly and I danced and danced and danced.... like we were 18 again ;)
Can't wait to bring that kinda talent to the new club in Indy!

saturday afterhours/sunday pawnshop was PURE FILTH and I loved every second of it. walked in to hear the slags manning the big rig and laying down some top notch electro acid mindfuck house only to followed up by damian's pure outerspace non-genre defying beats. 112 boys and lee were techin it up in the back room as well. outside patio was going off to minimal glitchy techno with a floor full of zombies getting DOWN!

then came the tagging......YUM.

pawnshop is a geniously layed out club which was THE perfect venue for that twisted party. dc-10 meets trailer trash.

is ultra even an event anymore?

beach plaza day parties were a house lover's dream - farina to sneak to weeks to tripwire to heather to a bunch of others I can't recall due to fried synapses.....great wmc this year!

Had an amazing trip. My favorite set of the week was Danny Howell's at Pawn Shop Sunday night. I was there from 1am - 7:45am... and he absolutely amazed me... some sick underground music that I have NOT heard at all. I can honestly say he played the most music that was completely new to my ears.

Ultra was fun as well... I have NO complaints about the entire trip. Everyone there was on the level - and it was a great WMC this year. Can't wait for next years!

Coming up next - MUTEK in Montreal - if you haven't been and can make the trip, I HIGHLY recommend it for you minimal minds.

holy shit. i was at that party too. fucking best party i've ever been to! i went there with my demo, got to give it to richie, M.A.N.D.Y., a bunch of my other favorite dj's and producers. that was an *incredible* time.

ultra sucked. i don't like mob scenes. sunday school for degenerates is MY kinda party!!!

btw, i used to be "jungle_gurl" on here, but i can't log into my account anymore
:( i've had that name since 2001!! ah well.
