Bear with me on this story if you'd like. I go into detail on a lot of this.
A little back story to start this Trip Report off.
I live in Dallas, Texas and have an older sister (30) that lives in Chicago, Illinois. She is a registered nurse and a big time party fiend.
She figures that our shared love for electronic music is to be experienced in a setting that allows us to maximize its effects.
Her plan is to fly my 2 older brothers and myself up to Chicago for the Wavefront Festival that lasts 3 days. July 5th, 6th, 7th.
(Justice, Cedric Gervais, Fat Boy Slim; http://www.wavefrontmusicfestival.com/lineup.php if you are interested in more of the line-up)
Anyways, she gets us up there on the 4th. She has multiple apartments that she sub-leases as a side income. These apartments are pretty nice
so it's almost like we are on a paid vacation. We smoke some weed (She had never tried it before) that she got from one of her friends. After we
got somewhat high we just listened to some electric music, sat on her couch, and then she pulls out a canister with a couple charges. We all knew
what it was, but my brothers and I had never seen it in person. We were pretty sheltered from most drugs, but she explained to us what it was.
We were all pretty reluctant to try it, but once we started it was hard for us to start. We loved it! (Referring to Nitrous)
(Day 1 Festival)
The whole day leading up to the festival we just rested and watched movies. Once 5 pm rolled around we got all our stuff together. At 6:30 we got a ride
and headed to Montrose Beach. We could feel the beat from all the way from the highway. It was super exciting! As we were walking through the
park that leads to the beach she pulls out a baggie of small E tabs. She gives up 1 each, they were fairly large compared to most pills I've taken.
To this day I still don't know the dosage, but we took it anyways, no questions asked. We got into the festival, crossed a small bridge and got
out onto the beach. The energy that everyone was emitting was just completely awesome. We started feeling the effects of the Ecstasy within
45 minutes of the dose.
At 7:15, it starts to get darker outside, the stage lights come up. DJs switch positions and start new tracks. Everything seems brighter and more vivid.
My sister tells me that its hardly begun yet and that my eyes are just now starting to dilate. Another 15 minutes go by and man, does it feel like
I've just entered into a whole new environment. My legs are shaking slightly, I get vision distorts, and my eyes start to wiggle a lot. The music
is so clear and vivid, but also overpowering and the only way to interact with the music is to show it your moves. I bust out into dance that
the music forces upon me. There's literally nothing better than that feeling I had. I felt like the music was apart of me and that the more
I danced, the more I felt of it. The sand between my toes felt like heaven, if heaven could ever be felt on Earth.
8:30 came up on us faster than lightening. My sister tells me that we have been peaking and I completely agree with her. She hands me another
large tab and again, no questions asked. 10 minutes after that re-dose I feel like time has stopped. I feel completely weightless and all my movements
are fluid with the music. Literally "floating around in Ecstasy" as a Queen once said. My brothers and sister are having the time of our lives. Looking
back it was the most I had ever bonded with her and my brothers. (Me being the youngest and having a 12 year gap between her and I)
People try to converse but all I hear is the music and I know it seems really rude, but I ignore most of the people that are talking to me because
I am so lost in the beat. You can't really blame me though.
The whole roll lasts all the way until we get back to her apartment, around 1 am. She proceeds to pull out the nos and we go to town. The come down
from Ecstasy paired with nos is such an awesome feeling too. We laid on her couch, listen to more music, and danced until about 2 am. Then we
crashed.
(Day 2 Festival)
Same as Day 1, but with minor differences. I will only cover the minor differences.
We meet up with her friends at around 7:30, having already dosed and it has obviously taken effect, one of her male friends asks if I want a rolling hug.
> Me "Fuck yeah! Whats that!"
Patrick proceeds to preform a hug that starts at my upper back, rolling his clenched fists along my back muscles all the way down to just above
my butt, then back up again. After about 15 seconds of this, he lifts me up into the air and squeezes hard, popping my back.
I lay down after that. "Nothing will ever feel better than that hug." I still feel this way about that hug. It was the most amazing feeling that I had
physically felt.
Re-dose
Fast forward 4 hours: Festival over, we head home.
(Day 3 Festival)
This is where hell comes into the scene. I really wish I could give the
mgs on these tabs so I could advice not to take as much as I did this night.
So this day, my oldest sister says that she has to study for a test coming up in the following days. She has been going to Nurse Anesthetic school
to further her education. My brother gives her a 60mg vyvanse and she studies the whole day and night. My oldest brother is meeting his friends
that live there for some dinner, so it's just my second oldest brother (1 and 1/2 older than me) and I that are going to the festival tonight.
We get a taxi there, sister calls us and tells us that she will pick us up at 12:00, right when the concert ends. This is a huge relieve, because
the last thing I wanna do is navigate an fairly unfamiliar city while high as a kite.
We dose the large tabs at 6:00 and head to the front of the festival. We proceed to sell her ticket for 60$, half of what we paid for it. By the time
someone actually bought it, we were feeling the first stages of the effects. It wasn't dark out yet, so we walked around a little more and explored.
Once we started rolling hard, around 7:15 or so, we were all over the place. We would change venues (there were 6 different stages and 3 main stages).
We stuck to the 3 main stages and met some girls playing with a hoola hoop that I quickly befriended due to my social butterfly that comes
out of its cocoon once MDMA takes over. We dance to some Audien and various other DJs. We travel along with them all night, we rode Molli, the
10 story Ferris Wheel, which was a blast!
Hell opens its gates
During the last 2 DJ sets, I felt as if the Ecstasy had started to wear off. My brother had the pill bag with him and was reluctant to give me another tab
so I broke one in half, and took it. I told him that he should take the other half with me, but he was more than happy with just 2 tabs.
At around 10:30 or 11:00 pm I started feeling completely drained of all energy. Music seemed to be a huge mumble and lights were hurting my eyes.
I had been drinking plenty of water throughout the night, like your'e suppose to at raves, but I was getting hotter and hotter.
I had to sit down in the cool sand to find some relieve. I wasn't nauseous at this time or anything, but I felt that sooner or later if I didn't make it
back to the apartment, the only way I'd be making it out of the festival was on a stretcher (Which we had seen 2 people already making their exodus on that night)
This feeling suddenly went away, or maybe I put it away, once a remix of "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen came on. This was the ending song of the whole festival
ironically.
(Not sure if anyone was there or knows this remix, but if you do, I'd love to know who remixed it) <--- Longshot
We asked the 2 girls we were with if they need a ride to where ever they were going. They accepted the ride and we all walked through the festival, back
through the park. My brother and I stopped to relieve ourselves on a tree covered by bushes. I peed for at least a minute. I should have timed it.
It would have set world records.
The energy still remaining from the last song was slowly wearing off. My footsteps seemed so heavy. Multiple times I had lost the strength in my legs
and just played it off as if I had tripped over something. Finally we get to the car, after what seems like an hour hike. It takes even longer to get these girls
to the place they needed to go. "Oh its just down the road a little bit!" Yeah right. We were all over the place. I was still feeling the effects of the
MDMA, but the moment I was in the car, I was very nauseous. I almost had to pop the door open whilst in motion to vomit, but it was a false alarm.
The girls ask if we, my brother and I, want to stay over at this after party she was going to. I almost took her up on it, but I didn't want to
leave my siblings and be alone at this place.
12:30 we make it back to her apartment downtown. She has this very convenient parking spot that she always parks at. Its the fastest
way to get into the apartment. I step out of the car and immediately hit the pavement. I find that I cannot move my legs at all. I can't
put any weight on them at all. It was almost as if I were paralyzed. I could still feel them, but for the life of me they wouldn't move.
My brother that was with me the whole night picks me up. ( I'm about 6ft, 180lb) I feel bad for him, and keep telling him that I'm sorry.
At this point I'm drifting in and out of consciousness. I blink my eyes and we move about 50 feet. We have to walk around the building
before we can enter the front entrance. Just as we make it through the front door, I mumble out the words "Bathroom now."
The doorman, a heavier black man, jumps out of his seat and takes us through a back room and we get into the utilities bathroom. At the exact moment
we open that bathroom door, I shit you not, I immediately purge my stomach of everything that I had that day. All I end up throwing up was liquids.
Probably because it had been almost 10 hours since I had eaten anything. I Throw up countless times. I start sweating profusely, and my brother starts
to mop it up with a towel. I try to tell him to stop because that's the only thing that's keeping me from heating up too much.
The room feels as if its 100+ degrees. I touch my arms and they are on fire.
After an amount of time passes, I wouldn't be able to tell you how long it was, my brother picks my sweaty, limp body off the linoleum
floor and I get a glimpse of my bright red face. I mean, grab a potato, then throw it in a bucket of red dye, then pull it back out.
My face looked like that potato.
As I'm being carried back through the lobby I hear the doorman ask "He gonna be alright?" My sister replies "Oh yeah, our family just parties
a little hard." I mange to let out a whimper of a chuckle at that.
Once in the apartment they get me into the bathtub with moderately cool water to lower my ever increasing body temperature.
I am constantly blacking out and coming back. All of my siblings are staring at me while I'm laying helplessly, fully clothed,
in the bath. When I am not unconscious I look at their faces. I can only see half of them. Everything on the left side of
their face is completely smooth skin. I test out both my eyes. The same result is in both of them individually. It scared
the living hell out of me, but I remained calm so to not freak them out. I so badly wanted to just shrivel up into a ball
and make it all stop.
My sister disappears from the apartment when my brothers are helping me into new clothing. I couldn't dress myself at all.
They carry me over to a turned down bed and lay me in it. My eyes are open, but the room is swirling and I can't make anything
out. All I hear are the voices of my brothers. All of the sudden I recognize my sisters voice. I make out "IV" and "Hold on", then feel
a slight pinch and then I black out for good.
I wake the next morning in complete confusion. A terrible headache and have a bad case of motion sickness. I lay my
head back down and fall back asleep. I wake up at around 2:15 pm and my brothers are telling me everything that had happened
the night before. I eat some food, what little I could. I take a 5 htp and go back to sleep.
Those 3 nights were the best and the worst night of my life, all in one weekend.
The End
1) Has the latter ever happened to anyone using only Ecstasy. I am aware that these could have been cut with different
substances, but the supplier was a very good friend of my sisters. He seemed pretty reliable and trustworthy at face value.
2) Do you think that I could have possible overdosed on Ecstasy? I know you can't be positive since I don't know the
mg's of the tabs, but just from the symptoms during the latter of the story.
If you stayed with me through most of the report, bravo. It's an eyeful, I know.
