Opioids First Time Post - Oxycodone + Bottle of Wine

Hi all. A friend of mine was recently prescribed 10-325 oxycodone. He told me for the past 2 weeks, he has been drinking a bottle of wine (5 drinks) and snorting a half a pill at night (so 5mg of actual oxycodone). I've read several posts on here about oxycodone and alcohol, and from what I gather, the main concern is if you mix them w/ drugs like valium. However, you're always hearing about overdoses of painkillers and alcohol, so I want to check w/ all of you. He said while the effects are quite nice to drink a bottle of wine over a few hours and snort 1/2 a pill, he has not had many ill effects. Based on this, would you say I shouldn't overly worry (about my friend). Thanks in advance.
 
its not good to mix apap with alcohol but if only 162mg of apap and only 5 mg of oxy he should be fine. might suggest him just swallow the half instead of putting that apap up his nose. hope that helps
 
Thanks, Brainstorm. So he shouldn't be worried about a possible overdose between those combinations? Everything he read on this forum before posting made it seem like those are fairly low dosages of oxy, but just didn't know w/ the 5 or 6 drinks.

Don't snort the Oxy/APAP. You're going to greatly irritate your nose.

Only Oxy pills with Oxy as the only active ingredient are worth snorting. I'd really just eat 5mg and drink your wine, not snort it. Will be very unpleasant and is terrible for you.
 
I appreciate the few replies I got, but still just want the slightest assurance I shouldn't worry about my friend. As I said earlier, I've read several posts and I understand you cannot give a definitive answer to any individuals situation, but from others experience, should 5mg of oxy and a bottle of wine be concern for OD? thx.
 
Like others have said, snorting APAP is not a good idea. And considering the majority of the pill is APAP and binders, the likelyness of all the oxycodone getting absorbed in the nasal cavity is even lower. Tell your friend to just eat the whole pill instead of snorting half and he will have much better results.
 
5mg is fine in my understanding, though... like people have said... tell him to just swallow the pill

Now, if it was 15mg+ oxycodone... it is still a moderate-high dose for someone with little or no tolerance (in my experience)
That could raise some questions since alcohol can cause an opiate to reach 270% the normal plasma level without alcohol
(15mg can act like it was a 40mg, lethal if an adverse reaction like that occurs)
(30mg+ of an instant release with no tolerance and no alcohol can be lethal)

Of course, everything with drugs are "if" this and "if" that... just tell him to stick with under 6 drinks and 5-10mg and he should be fine
 
I took 40 mg the first time I ever took an OC. I didn't eat all day and parachuted a 40 mg, then preceded to smoke an eighth in less than an hour. I am 5'10" 150 lbs. 40 mg is not lethal, unless with alcohol or xanax in a novice user. Your friend should be fine.

If you're talking about Oxycontin, that's extended release

I'm talking about Instant Release

I know people that have railed 40mg of Roxi... and Overdosed

Having no tolerance and taking an Oxycontin 80, possibly will kill you
 
Well it was a generic oxycodone pill so it was instant release but this was three years ago when you could crush up Oxycontin and bypass the extended release.
