I just recently got out of treatment for drug abuse and well I relapsed because of some serious stress going on in my life. Anyways I know now after 8 months clean I made a horrible mistake. I've never used needles before but I wanted to try because others around me were doing it. So my friend who was super high dosed me in my right arm right below my elbow in a small vein. She missed twice digging around and poking me about 4 times until she finally got it in. I told her I'd do it but she wouldn't give up. Ughh... so I afterwards I got this large lump from her missing. Pretty big the size of the bottom of a soda can. It was really hot and red. By the end of the night the swelling was almost gone I kept rubbing it. This was Thursday...now it's Sunday and my arm is incredibly bruised and it hurts like a deep bruise. Its still a little warm but not screaming hot like it was. The bruise is like 5 inches by 3 inches in an odd half mood shape. I'm worried. Is this normal since she was digging around and poking me over and over? She did have to dose me three times because she missed the first two times. Looking back I'm lucky I didn't overdose or something. This bruise is huge I live in a clean and sober house and it is hell trying to hide this thing with how hot it is outside. The bruise is big not black or anything but like a light brownish color.

My next question... In my left arm I shot up the next day in the crease of my elbow. There was no mark there but today Sunday I have a bruise towards the inside of my elbow running towards my bicep when I actually dosed in the outside of my elbow high forearm like 4 inches away. Why is the bruise so far away?

I'm freaked out. I normally stay away from needles but I was curious. I'm done with this shit! Any advice on what I should do would be great! Thanks!

I usually bruise worse when I miss, and the stuff I inject isn't harmful to soft tissue, your mixture likely does more damage.

As for the other bruise, your vein was likely bleeding a bit and the blood just settled in a different part of your arm. Maybe due to bending your elbow shortly afterward?

Ok, thanks for your reply. That makes me less worried! My friend was like "quite looking it up on WebMD" lol. Which is exactly what I was doing. Another question...my pinky finger on my right hand where the biggest bruise is ..is a little numb? Did she maybe hit a nerve or something?

Just wanted to preface this by saying when you pick up a needle it's just the beginning of a whole new level of addiction. I would really think about this before moving forward with intravenous drug use.

As for your question, I always had bruises the day after shooting crystal and I never missed and always used sterile, correct IV technique. Meth is just really toxic, corrosive crap.

If you continue to use IV, don't let that tweaker near you with a needle again! You're better off going to the IV Mega Thread and teaching yourself how to do it safely and correctly.

If you miss again, I find running hot water over the area while gently massaging it for a good 20 minutes helps. Then do a 10 minute hot compress every hour till all signs of the miss are gone.

If there's any kind of infection or unresolved symptoms you absolutely will need to get medical attention... they can give you antibiotics and safely drain an abscess. Keep a close eye on that shit, you could end up with a permanent hole from where the infected tissue was or lose an arm.

Thanks for your reply! Yeah I know i made a huge mistake letting her do that to me! The bruise is looking better. The swelling is gone but the bruise is a yellow kinda grey color pretty light but you can see it. It itches like hell. Could that be a sign of infection? I don't have and holes or needle marks just this horrible bruise. Plus i think I've been detoxing cause I've been sweating, shaking, dizzy, nauseous, and craving bad. I went on a three day binge. Is this possible for my first time?

i just lost my left arm from above the elbow on down due to missing a shot of Ambien. this was one month ago. its a hell of a thing considering i just wanted to my high on, instead im now an amputee. i was gonna post a pic of me laying in icu, out cold, and my bloody stump with a vacuum pump stuck in the middle to help draining but its quite graphic.

look, my life, im 43, has been crazy as im sure many others here can make that claim. as was mentioned above, picking up the needle opens a whole new level of addiction. its extremely dangerous, many things can go wrong from an abscess to amputation, overdose could be in your future as well.

leave the needle alone..............................

^ yep listen to this man

if it gets worse with time go to the hospital man, don't wanna risk losing your arm!

peace

Most of my bruising after IV meth use was yellow. Is there any heat when you touch the injection site? How about swelling? Fever?

Meth does not cause any kind of physical dependency and you wouldn't suffer any kind of withdrawal, at least not physically. However, the come down can be very rough. What day and time did you last use?

I felt like complete shit coming down and in the days that followed while I recovered. And because of the drug, it was really difficult for me to tell if my fears were rational when it came to health concerns. It's just the nature of meth and its effects.

The sweating and nausea concerns me, I've never experienced that and I'm worried it may be signs of infection. I can't diagnose you over the internet and I'm not a doctor anyway. Is there some kind of walk in clinic or urgent care you can go to and get checked? Your medical records are confidential and in this case it's definitely better to err on the side of caution.

If you have any kind of fever, heat and/or swelling of the injection site, loss of movement/sensation in that arm, or any other abnormal/worsening symptoms you absolutely need to go to the ER. I would try and get checked even if none of the above is the case for you, the potential risk is worth any hassle.

If you don't go in as advised, you need to be using a compress every hour, taking in a lot of fluids, resting, and if you're able try and eat some soft foods and a daily vitamin. Your immune system is going to be weak and susceptible to infection.

That could be an absess, or necrosis (the immediate veins and muscle tissue surrounding the lump are decaying like dead) , nerve damage (hot lump), the lump indicates a miss. is the lump gone now? Only leaving a bruise, if you then you could be ok and the digging could leave a bruise but the lump is worrying i guess it all absorbed (that is , if its gone). Id say the other bruise was from vein bleeding.

I also agree with all of this, see a doctor, and drink lots of fluids

Seek medical attention please. If you've never used needles before it's highly likely that you messed up in a way that I'd recommend you get it checked out. Methamphetamine is NOT forgiving, via IV, it has no mercy.

Let us know how things go.
