I used to like video-games a lot, and endurance running. I liked the latter because it, much of the time, would give me a "runner's high." I would then use this "runner's high" and/or its afterglow effect to have fun while gaming. The music, the colours, the battles...it was a wasted experience without the running beforehand.
Unfortunately, I have stopped getting high from exercise for quite some time now, and that means VGs are a dull experience. A combination of 60mg Cymbalta and 900mg St. John's Wort initially made running fun again, but only for about 8 weeks. Then they stopped having that effect. I am only now finally considering taking drugs before video-games to try and enhance the gaming experience. Does anyone find this effective? If so, what drug? I'm looking for a state of euphoria, so I don't think Marijuana, a depressant, is going to cut it. Speed sounds very dangerous but I have considered it. I hear that Cocaine can easily lead to Anhedonia--the loss of any pleasure at all--after habitual use, so I certainly don't want to try that.
The drug that seems most appealing to me is Ecstasy. I'm not a very social person and don't have a desire to use it to enjoy partying, but isn't it true that MDMA can enhance one's appreciation for music and visuals? It sounds like that would make video-games on the PS3 a blast. Of course, I hear you should only take Ecstasy no more than 4 times a year to prevent the aforementioned Anhedonia, but I wouldn't be planning on using it more than a few times a year anyway (unless new research absolutely confirms that it is safe to do so).
Of course, I also like a lot of RPGs that are heavy on story, as well as Action games. Pertaining to story-based games, would I be so wasted that I wouldn't be able to pay attention to the plot?
Anyway, I just want to know the pros and cons of drug-use before gaming, or if there is any effect at all. Because i don't like just playing video-games, I like to EXPERIENCE them.
